Lewis,
I put the Maccari gear in the HW80. I have done a bit more shooting with it now. Put a few different scopes on it. Each time the same thing has happened. First 10 shots sight in and spot on then a 50mm drop in POI. Tried a different scope and same thing. OK at first then drop. Seems ok with open sights. ??????????

Brendan,
Does the POI come back up?
How was the piston seal fit?

I wondered if the piston was too tight and when it heated up it gets tighter. I havn't persisted long ebough to see if it comes back up. Is that possible

It does sound possible but I don't understand why it's OK with open sights.
When I do an HW80,I have a big selection of seals.Their receivers can vary greatly.
I just received some brand new seals from Jim for them.Want to try on the house?

What lube did you use on the seal?

Are you changing technique at all? If you rest the gun to sight it in, then shoot it offhand after that you may find your POI changes. Just a thought.

Hey Lewis,
I used the lube that came in the kit. A smear around the backside of the piston seal. Might have to try another seal. I have a new address which I will e-mail you with.

Please say the moly and not the tar! LOL!
Don't laugh .... it happens.
If you have the original seal, could you please accurately measure the OD top and bottom?
Thanks
Lewis

Lewis promptly sent me two new seals. I used the red one and it is not as tight as the one I had in. The problem seems fixed. Shooting accurately and no drop in poi. I think back and once I had the sh##s with the drop I put the open sights on and shot a few shots, not enought to bring on the problem. Appears it was too tight and getting hotter and tighter. Also have some JSB .25 now. Nice. The rifle is a an early model with only 2 stop holes?

I like hearing success stories!
Your theory on a sticky seal may be right.
It would be early with two stop holes.
S/N is sub 1,000,000?
