Hey Everyone,

I got rid of my Rapier a while ago and was only left with a low powered Anschultz 335 so lately I've been thinking I'd like another air rifle soon, one that is more powerful.

I'd like a PCP but don't know if I'll be able to afford one. If I was to get a PCP I'd Ideally like a .22 repeater and easily adjustable power. But I wouldn't have a problem with a .177 either.

So, that being said what do you guys think my options are for under $1300 new or second hand doesn't matter as long as its a good gun.

Find the extra and get a new Rapid from Potters.He has them on sale right now at near cost.

If you're looking for power, you can always consider the Evanix AR6. Starting at around 60 ft/lb they are pretty decently powered and will do most of what a .22 rimfire will.

However, they that kind of power does bring some inherent limitations and they really don't like light pellets at all.

If you get the semi-automatic model, you can adjust the power ( proportional to the hammer strike ) otherwise you need to adjust the hammer spring to reduce the output ( though you can always go the other way up to 100 ft/lb )

Evanix also now make a fully automatic air rifle, though I doubt we'll see them in Australia. Then again, the semi automatic versions are all still Cat A. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZO1mVS2ehI&NR=1

You can go Korean and get a Sumatra 2550, .20, .22 and .25, 6 shot magazine, lever action, adjustable power, can get a carbine with 300cc and the full monty for 500cc. I would say the .25 would put out very impressive energy, the 22 is around 40+ I believe and they are less than 1K so prob get a package with scope etc with your budget.

Listen to Lewis. Get a Rapid from Potters and cut the eye out of a needle. Save a bit longer or maybe enquire about lay-by?

The FX Typhoon 12 looks like a good value buy to me. Accurate, quik fil, 12 shot mag and around the money you speak of. Gamo Dynamax are similar too and from what I read are up to the job. Just a BSA in disguise. Just my thoughts............

I've had a little look at the Dynamax. Turns out it's the BSA Hornet .177 in a synthetic stock. And as I own a Hornet in .177, as long as Gamo maintained the quality, I reckon it would be a very nice little rifle.
The only downside is the cylinder is part of the rifle, so you can't carry a spare. And it does not have an onboard pressure gauge, so you may want to keep track of shots.
The upside is I get at least 80 shots from a full fill of 230bar. So you get a lot of shots out of a fill, and a lot of fills from a 300bar cylinder. And JSB Heavies work really well in it, Certainly "minute of rabbit" out towards 50m.

But the 12 shot Typhoon is really tempting...................
May well be as accurate, I haven't used one. But 12 shots would have to be good.
