was offered a daisy[?] .22 air rifle today,for what i think its worth.
an old bloke moving to nsw doesnt want the hassle with it.hes going to pig country.

problem is,i dont know what it might possibly be worth ??

i was thinking of offereing $50 but i dont want to offend the guy.....

any clues ??

Without knowledge on model or condition, it's a hard task for anyone to give it a value.

But, if it's in decent condition and still fires strongly, just about any .177 air rifle is worth $80 IMHO.

If old mate's a long term QLDer, you could always try 'fessing up that you don't know what to offer him, and then suggest a bottle of Bundy and a carton of XXXX for when he gets homesick next week!

Is it really a Daisy? Chances are it isn't,especially if it's .22.Many people use 'Daisy' as a generic term like 'Jeep'.

You should find out exactly what it is before you possibly waste $50.

the condition could be anything as could the brand.
i am hoping it will be worth more than i pay because im only interested in the resale.

just got back from the ol fellas place.
its a GAMO 600 ? custom .22
i spose daisy was the only airgun he could think of at the time.
hes had it for along time and purchased it second hand.
the stock has seen alot of knocks and ware and isnt all than nice compared to new.
the metal work is nice except for the last few inch at the muzzle,rust isnt there but its coming on.
the bore is shiney and nice [as expected]
the trigger guard at the 2 screw holes is cracked.
i said $60-$65 maybe $70
he said $75...
think its worth it ? [without pics-sorry]

To be blunt - it sounds like a turd that's not worth the trouble, TBH.

You might pay $50 for it and not sell it for much more, or never sell it, after running around and arranging PTA's etc

If it was in very good nick someone might pay $150 for it I suppose - but it sounds like it's in pretty bad nick on the outside and with airguns that can often correspond to bad nick on the inside....

unfortunantly...i am an optimist and think that this lil popgun just needs a bit of TLC.

keeping in mind the ol mossy was heading for an angle grinder and the tip,and look how well that turned out.79 cats [mostly headshots] umpteen rabbits [mostly headshots]

me lil chinese assault rifle [chinese made airgun 177 open sites-found in the house when i purchased the place] marine varnished and black paint,almost embarrassed the guys at the smallbore club,so much so they hassled me until i gave up the shoot.

i think i can do ok with this one.

If you are looking to sell it to make money on it you might be pushing your luck . I've seen loads of Norica and Gamos and Chinese guns at the LGS's and none of them have many $$ on them and very few seem to move. $80 is probably the tops on most and they tend to sit there for a long, long time. Just the general sluggie never seems to fetch much.

Without looking at it, who knows. There never seems to be much of a market for old cheap airguns I suspect because of stuffing around with PTA's etc, and nothing to really distinguish one from the other.

If it spoke to you and you really just wanted a project you might get your monies worth out of it in play value, just dont count on making a few $$ off it. At $75 its probably all it's worth.

But you have to be the judge so good luck.

my nephew just got his licence
ive just payed for his SSAA membership.

with a clean up,it might make for a nice first gun and be good for the 10mtr airgun comp at the small bore range.

ive just sold my older brother a .22 [he just got his license too.[his dad]

75 bucks aint nuthin to the look on his face and the fun he will get from it.

Your last point sold me Lone Rider. I reckon you should do it.

I remember my first gun was an old air rifle. I didn't know the difference between a good one and a bad one, but I put an absolute ton of pellets through it and loved every moment of it. I've never asked my dad what my face was like but I reckon I was smiling from ear to ear for a week.

if that's the kind of reaction you get for $75 then it's a bargain.
