I haven't had anything to do with the Dianas , but I do have a Hw30 in .177

Its a sweet little rifle to use and extremely accurate, Matt W made up a muzzle break for me ( beautifully made ) and Geoff got me a BSA 2-7x32 scope for it which suits it well.

I had to wait a fair while to get mine too. BTW, if you decide you want one I'd advise getting in early as they sell quick once they arrive.

So Geoff how easy is it for handy bloke to clean up the sping piston and seal on these? Just need a spring compressor?

You won't need new seal Ryan. The OEM is quite good. Just a clean up and lubed properly. The one I bought was a touch dry. It had about 10mm preload. What spring compressor? Shoots Superdome at 495 fps for around 4.5 fpe. I wrangled a deal with my local lgs so it's going in with my Weatherby S2 223 in exchange for something else. The HW50 will take its place at around 10.5 fpe. I can the extend my target species to include buns and hares.

Do anybody know if the Diana 240 classic is any good? It seems to be the same as the panther 21 but with a beech stock and made in Germany, the new 21 is made in china.

Thanks Tim

Pretty much the same rifle with about 80 fps more umph. Neither here nor there in that department. Same TO5 trigger so it will need some minor surgery. For the price you may as well save an extra $100-150 for a HW30 or 50.

Put your order in now and we'll both receive our rifles at the same time. :D

Thanks Geoff, the 240 classic is $192, what I am thinking is get a Hw30 or 50 but in the meantime getting one of the little Diana's.

Is that the China made product though?

From what I have been told the 240 classic is still German made. The model I looked at was definitely stamped made in Germany.

Well I finally decided on a Diana 240. Just need to wait for the pta.
Any tips on what pellets to try and any maintenance that a springer needs.

Thanks Tim

I picked up the little Diana yesterday. The fit and finish seems great to me. The trigger is ok but could be better and the main spring is not all that smooth.
Ran five cleaning felts through the barrel to clean up the bore initially. It's seems to be shooting well.
So far I'm very happy with it.

That's why my 21 got a full strip and lube job. The guts will take about a tin to settle.

Cleaning felts in a springer ?

Isn't that almost like dry firing ?

I should think a pull through would have been more healthy for it.

I could be wrong though.

Enjoy the new rifle.

Reading back through old threads. I think it was Lewis that says to put in a felt and a pellet right behind it so they both go down the barrel together. So the pellet pushes the felt.
I could be wrong though, which happens most of the time.

I thought it was felt only.
