wow thanks whitey & fenring that's awesome info about the torches .
ok i test fired a 22 cal hw80 last night & i'm sold on it . 473 pages into a dry phone book , & dented upto 598 pages . i was very impressed , it had a gold crown air king fixed 4x scope with one piece mount . mates the trigger was amazing , has to be one of the best triggers of any rifle i have handled , so much so that my mate had to pull out some of his target rifles to compere them to it . we went shot for shot againts his gamo 2000 magnum 22 cal , um not even a contest in power , accuracy , trigger . if that's not enough look on you tube at peoples reveiws , they rave about it . it seems like they can be tweeked up in the power to . in short love at first shot . although it wasn't cared for that well or at all , it has scratches & dings & light pitting & that dry looking surface rust all over it . well hopefully that might sweeten the price . asking $490 ???? not sure how much new ??? but it will fall within my budget with money left over for a torch set up . i though it would be louder than it is . put it this way , now my mate want's it lucky we just took his martini to the smith the night before hahahaha & can't afford it really . i better not speak to soon as he works in the shop that's selling it . what do yous think of that for hares . & do you know where to get the power up mods ? never thought i'd spend that money on air ??? well cheers guy's . btw i pick up my daisy 901 power line today , that's my new toad gun . pitty it took 9 months to get it my hands . ( customs , 1st pta expired while in customs , 2nd pta never made it to us & expired heaps of phone calls & being told it's on it's way , then got it on 3rd pta . is that revinue rasing or what ???? )

Hi DK,
Looks like you've worked out a good thing here. Next up, get a deposit on that HW80........you won't be sorry.
And then straight to:
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=12926
and talk to Lewis
And while your there, you can find out if Silver Ace .22 will work in the HW80:
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=12925
At $5 a tin posted, there's a lot of good cheap practice there.
Lewis is certainly a very good man to contact about this rifle, what it will like to shoot (pellet-wise), maintenance and anything else relating to it.
You could PM Con or Native Hunter, as well, as (from memory) they have both had HW80s, with upgrades, but I'm not sure what calibre.
Good luck.
regards, curan

about that upgrade at a good price. Everything I've read about Maccari upgrades recommends them.I have Maccari springs for just about everything

Re: buget air rifle for hares ????
ok latest , i'm paying for the hw80 in full on friday & will hopefully get a few $$$ off paying cash . i got onto lewis & got some pellets & 3-9 x scope & mounts . after having a play at 30 yards it was still grouping awesome . biggest 5 shot group went 1 inch & that was leaning against a tree . i'm so happy with this set up , i will be getting a maccari spring & seal kit hopefully next week as back up . but it's torch / spotlight next to top off my package . now i know nothing at all about all these new torches . but i will look up all the torches mentioned earlier . i will look up led australia , what other places or shops are a good place to start ???? thanks everybody for your input & thanks lewis for your help & advice cheers .

Nice setup mate.
Re: buget air rifle for hares ????
I recently picked up a HW80 which is a bit rough. Put a Maccari kit in it and it shoots very well. The install is easy. There are plenty of posts around showing start to finish. I have a .25 K barrel due to arrive any day which should be fun. The TK11 R2 kit that www.ledtorches.com.au has on special will do a good job. I have no connection to them except as a loyal customer.

Re: buget air rifle for hares ????
well i have paid for the hw80 outright & got it for $450 , i have also got a 3-9 x 32 simmons ( korea ) ao scope .
i have quite a array of pellets now : beeman silver aces , china made sting , nz made winchester , rws superdome , rws super point extra , rws super field , rws super h point , & my mate has 2 other types weve been using already . we are having a bit of a shoot tomorrow morning before the wind picks up . i'm still waiting for my crony to be returned from warranty ( taking awhile ) the plan is to shoot it & find the best pellet combo & then put in a maccari spring & seal kit & see how it goes . mmm i need to get a good camera so i can get some pic's up here . cheers .

Re: buget air rifle for hares ????
well we didn't shoot the hw80 today , but we did shoot a beeman r10 in .20 cal , & the gamo 2000 magnum in .22 cal . i must say in windy conditions the .22 was doing just fine at a measured 50 yards . 35 yard zero we found a top of the bottem post ( of crosshair ) hold was spot on at 50 yards . how easy is that . the . 22 pellets ( dome points & rws super h points ) both did more damage on oinions , apples & potatos . we even lined up all 3 fruit & vege & still was punching straight throught all 3 of them . so brain shots should still put the meat on the table @ 50 yards . i thought the .20 cal r10 would of been better then the gamo ??? but we need to wait for the crony to come back to measure the velocity & then work out the foot pounds of energy at all ranges .
