Quik-fil

Post by Whitey »

Fitted the quick fill set up to my Rapid. Not much involved in fitting it. Remove the blank from the receiver, screw in the male section with some liquid thread tape. Boring the stock was a bit stressful, but came out fine. Got a local wood worker to do it. The hardest part was adjusting the quik-fil parts themselves. They were made for a Mark 2. The only differance between that and the Mk1 is the distance that the male section sticks through the stock. The stock on the Mk 1 is not as thick. I solved that problem by taking it to a good hydraulics crew and getting them to remove the male top section. machine the bolt down to the top of the nut section, extending the internal thread and replacing the top section. Shortened it by 7 mm making it flush with the bottom of the Mk1 stock. Fitting the sleeve to the stock takes a bit of work also as the bottom of the stock isn't flat.

As you can see it is fairly unobtrusive and neat. No more winding that bottle on and off. Means I can leave the Bipod on as well. This is how this rifle should have come. Anyway as I have read on other sites, Theoben plan to have a factory quik-fil set i the near future which would explain why the current rifles come with the blank hole already there. This rifle is the business.
