Australian shooter gun doctor.??

G"day All
Anyone have the pleasure of reading the Q&A section in the gun doctor this month.?
This bloke has no idea on air rifles, scopes or pellets.
About time this mag got its own air arms technical section.
Lewis you would be a prime candidate as would harry.
I always wondered why lewis never advertises anywhere and after this you can see why, it would only attract stupid questions and take up way to much time.
Geeez it will be good when we have access to JSB pellets.!!

Ian does phone me occasionally so his responses do surprise.
I'm not overly worried because sooner or later I get found.
I must warn everybody though,I am desperately low on JSB's.The factory has been extremely slow delivering.
I have NO Exact Express .177
SOME Exact .177,Exact Heavy .177,Exact Express .22 and Exact .22.
PLENTY of Exact .20.
I have orders in that go back to February!!!!!

And if they don't hassle poor old Lewis they come into the shop and ask me some of the most rediculous questions. Most of the time people are unaware of the diferences between an sir powered gun and a powder-burner, both in their limitations and their advantages. When they hear the price of a quality air rifle they usually go a strange grey colour and stagger out the door. The Australian shooting mags do not help (quality) airgun sales in any way. Then again, there are few advertisers of quality air powered guns in Australian magazines.
And just for your info, Lewis.
Highland Sports no longer import spare parts for the Gamo "Compact" pistols they once imported. Some parts are available, mainly the ones that never break or wear out but things like seals and O-rings are long gone.

Thanks for the info on HS and the GAMO Compact.This is the other reason I do not sell,work on or trade GAMO anything.

Works for me.There's quite a few other brands I'm not fussed on either and avoid like the plague.

We got sneaky after a while. We worked out that most of the importers didn't have too many clues about airguns, they just want to sell them and make a quid. I would venture to say that there would only be 2 importers on the east coast that *really* know airguns, Lewis and Potter's.
We now work on the basis that if Lewis can fix it, we can sell it. If Lewis won't touch it, we don't need the hassles of the deal when something goes wrong. Some importers seem to think that spare parts are at best a hinderance to making a profit, hence, there are none in stock.

Dennis is spot on.Airguns are 'airarms' not 'firearms'.Beware of anyone trying who keeps referring to airguns as firearms.They have no idea.

When we lived in the States and shot 3P air rifle, it was $1 in the Charity Tin if you referred to an air gun as a "firearm", and that was in a country with a gun culture!

I once read a question to the Dr. from a guy wanting to know if a short barrelled over & under 12 gauge shotgun was available. The reply from the alleged expert was no such animal ???

I personally own a Boito Muira shotty of that exact description and they're not rare, so how does this clown not know about them? Great gun for the money by the way.

Anyway another indicator of the poor quality of Australian Shooter Magazine.
