Almost Rapid .25 power with .22 BSA JB OZ 1. Ogre and Chris

Post by Yrrah »

Ogre and Chris T may be interested.

We are just back from a couple of weeks at the farm. Spent a little time shooting the BSA Hornet with 28.5 gr Korean Eunjins at 850 fps 45.7 fpe Mach 0.75 from the JB OZ 1 Bowkett BSA Hornet.

At 850 fps these slightly modified ( see pics in URL ref below ) heavy pellets shoot as flat in trajectory as 15.9 gr JSB Exacts if shot at the same 850 fps velocity ( and say 25.5 fpe ). They are averaging 1/2" ctc 5 shot groups off the bench in good air at 50 yards and some have been as small as 9 mm or 0.35".

A full grown rabbit was shot at a lasered 98 yards ... The Eunjin went in the rump beside the spine, traveled the length of the rabbit destroying some spine, the liver and one lung and exited out the front of the chest near the throat. A measured nine inches of rabbit in winter skin threaded and one very dead rabbit going nowhere.

Point of impact energy at 98 yards is 23+ fpe and 607 fps ( Chairgun ). The sound was a considerable "thump" reflected back from a row of pine trees in the still air of late afternoon.

I've been experimenting with the Eunjins ( bought from Tim Mac- 1 in USA ) by cleaning up the skirts and loading them indexed according to how they came out of the die .... If you open this URL it will explain what I have been doing.

Kind regards to all, Harry.
