Been using the HW100 -22 for some plinking. They are a bit front heavy so thought about getting the barrel shortened by about 4" to 16". Would also make it a bit handier in the vehicle. You can buy a carbine model but not common here.
There is mixed info on the net about whether HW barrels are choked. Mine is definately tighter at the last 30mm when cleaning. The rifle is accurate but no tack driver.
Anyone have suggestions or thoughts.
Anyone know where there is a 22 carbine barrel? Barrel swap is easy with an allen key.
See there is new barrels for sale in UK is it just a B709 to import or via dealer?

Re: HW100 barrel shortening
There are a few options. If your happy enough with the accuracy shortening that barrel would the easiest and cheapest. A light weight cylinder will made a big difference. Have a look at the Ratworks cylinder and you will get more shots. You will loose some power by shortening the barrel maybe around 80fps with that much of it. The HW barrel is a solid unit the FX smooth twist is a good option but you will have to sleeve the breach end to bring the od up.
Where are you on the Coast l am in Coffs Harbour.

Thanks for the info. Your old HW shot well, when I tried it at Yass.
A bit more info makes me think the choke is not critical to good accuracy so may chop it.
PM headed your way.

Re: HW100 barrel shortening
G'day All,
FWIW I remember reading Bill Calfee talk about slugging 22LR barrels to find the tightest point in the barrel that was closest to the muzzle and at that point less 0.5 inch was where the muzzle had to be set. With low chamber pressures, unlike a CF this kinda made sense. I would suspect that with air rifles's this would be just as important, if not more so.
For wot its wurf of course.
Cheerio Ned

Off the topic but Ned, I went to your fb page and wow, blown me away, impressive work!
You should offer air gunners stocks too, I'm sure you'd get orders.
