HW77 .20 Maccari tune

Post by LWR58 »

I got myself a new HW77 .20 to play with today

I didn’t like the way it was delivering FTT much!

Sure it was nudging 16FP for the first five shots but it was very harsh with twang and the usual trigger finger numbness too

It wasn’t overly pleasant to cock either

I just received another shipment from Jim Maccari and decided to try his new SOFT kit

The OE piston seal was hard , undersized and black from dieselling

I replaced it with a suitable size one from JM along with the breech seal and fitted the new kit

Lovely!!

So easy to cock now and smooth as silk
There’s just a pulse now when it fires and no vibration
Plus it’s already doing 13.5FP

A great improvement!

Sounds nice - how's the .20 barrel?

I remember hearing that some HW .20's were a tad oversized?

Totally different to shoot Scott

Very pleasant

I believe HW deliberately enlarged their .20 barrels to take Premiers which were 5.05mm

All the Theobens I sold were 5.05 LW barrels too

Premiers fitted like a glove and now JSB is the bomb!
