Lewis, which air rifle?

Post by Ackley Improved »

Mate

If I were to buy a air rifle, which would you pick?

I am not after a cheap one, nor mega dollars. $1000 sounds alright.

I am not sure which way to go, break barrel or a charged.

Use it for giving the birds a hiding.... Must be accurate, have a good trigger, can use a scope.

Cheers

Hi AI,
How about a new Beeman R9 in .177 or .20?The best value springer available by far! Best trigger, best German quality, plenty of Maccari tuning parts.A bargain at $695.
In PCP's (precharged pneumatic),I like the BSA Hornet a lot.Great performance in 177 or .22 for $895 ( gun only).
I can do scoped packages for both.

Nice..

Whats involved with the PCP's.. how much more gear... getting gas etc.

What sort of figures are the ones you mentioned getting?

Upgrade kits are worth??? WHat do these achieve?

Cheers

You really need a SCUBA tank for a PCP.Dive shops sell preowned ones from $150 upwards.Add $150 to $250 for an adaptor to decant air from the tank to your airgun's air cylinder,
If you're in the sticks, the pumps are good too.Add $395.
The Hornet 177 does around 21FP,the .22 around 27FP.Only heavy pellets are recommended eg 10 gns plus in 177 and 16 gns plus in .22.

Maccari kits are highly recommended in all the spring airguns I sell. They smooth out beautifully and perform better.

G'day
Ackley for that type of coin I would go the R9 .20 cal with a maccari kit and get lewis to scope it for you as a package, you will not be disapointed.
Great workmanship ,dependability and backed by the best man in the business.

Damien webb.
PS I have owned a HW97 and now own a R1 both were in .20cal.(impressive)
