Have tried it but did not see any improvements. I think its more a barrel thing. Some benefit and some are worse.
Sizing and weighing your pellets will give you the best results. Hopefully Harry will chime in. He uses a rolling technique to size his pellets.
I have also seen UK FT shooters use a Bic pen to slide there 177 pellets down and see where they stop and sort them.

I only shoot springers and I have not noticed any benefits to washing / lubing in my rifles.
I do have some pellet sizers that I bought from UK Neil but I mainly use a the pelletgage to help sort pellets.

My current batch of pellets are very consistent in size / weight but there are alot of variance in some tins.
