Air Arms S410, I'd almost given up on it.

Post by New to 223 »

When I first purchased the Air Arms S410 Xtra years ago, I almost gave up on it, I'd tried all the best pellets I could get hold of, the groups weren't bad, just not as good as I'd expected, I thought about moving it on.

Then JSB Exact heavies became available and it changed my mind.
The shot target is my 41 yard zero, 10 shots with JSB Exact heavies lubed, .177 cal, producing 17ftlbs.

Scope is a Leupld VX11 4-12 and maybe about 40 years old.

This has nothing to do with my ability, as you can see, the rifle is well supported, I just line it up and slip the trigger, when you have a rifle, pellet combo that works, rifles become so much more interesting and a joy to shoot.

I can just imagine all the superb rifles that have never realised their full potential because the pellets just weren't up to the job, the pellets are only washed and lubed, not sized or weighed.

I wish you Air arms blokes would stop posting pics like that :D

Great job and it looks like it was well worth the effort.

I'm interested to see how the Goldstar shoots Geoff.

The R10 in .177 cal has been fantastic so far, even with the factory reg.

Did you just buy a GS Neil?

I acquired an R10 Mk II, Euro version 22 cal from Spain shooting 17 fpe. I think our FACs shoot way too hot at 31 fpe at the detriment of shot count and accuracy. It drills Crosman Premier Ultra Magnums 14.3 grains. Had to restore the first pull trigger spring back to the original BSA unit to make it shoot nicely. The spring it came with was like shooting my Win 9422 but it has to be so to pass the silly Customs drop test.

I'll see if I can dig up the target cards.

A Goldstar no, if I wanted to get into FT again I'd use the GC2.

I'm really enjoying some long range foxing at the moment with the Tikka in 222 cal.

How good at ranging are you with the Aeon scope, I've never looked through one.
