Talon SS

Had a call from the permission owner that there is a rat flare up in one of the big sheds. We didn't need any more information than that and after sorting gear and loading up we were there in no time.

And he was right. Rats going in all directions. Big and small and initially a few ran straight at me. While it is not exactly the running of the bulls, I still don't like the thought of one up my leg.

I not long took delivery of a new Airforce Talon SS in .22 cal. I had already ordered and received a mod from Talon tunes which drops the tank height and gives you the quik-fil as well. No removing the tank all the time. Also a pressure guage. This handy mod makes a great rifle even better. It is a straght forward design which makes for a simple yet functional set up. Very accurate. While it is a single shot I have no issue with that. The bolt opens forward and gives heaps of room for my big fingers to quickly load a pellet straight into the barrel. I have been using JSB RS pellets and it likes them. I have been using it on the low power setting with the lighter pellets which seems to work well and minimises the damage to sheds etc. The report is fairly good on low power. I have mounted a Nikko Sterling variable with the LRX recticle. I am sort of happy with it but will change to a mill dot at some stage. The torch is my favourite Fenix LED with a red lens.

Anyway after a few hours we had accounted for approx. 50-60 rats with some big ones amongst them. A good nights hunting.

Thanks guys. I got it from High Powered Airguns in Vic. He's a nice guy and very helpful. I think it has a lot of potential. The barrels are easy to change. I think I'll get one in .20 and .25. You can get another Condor bottle and valve to crank the max power up. There are so many accessories also. Good system. And good fit and finish. Have a look at TalonTune.

I was going to correct you LR but figured you would work it out

Whitey that Talon SS looks interesting, like the Idea of different cal barrels, do they only come in .177 and .22 and then the barrels are aftermarket? Or can I get one in .20 and get a 25 cal barrel. That would be perfect, Have quite a few thousand JSB's from Lewis in 20.

Yes would definitely like to know more about it. Ive searched the web and found 17, 20, 22 and 25 cal barrels available. I reckon one in 22 would be quite good.

Be interested to know price etc if you dont mind putting it up mate.

lol Maybe if any of us were serious we could get them with barrels in mind, for me a 20 and 25 so will sell the 22 or 17 if someone wants it lol.

Whitey have you shot some groups with it? And are they adjustable for power?

The barrels look like around $170 to $200 US from Talon Tunes. The rifle does have fingertip power adjustment which is very handy. I was sighting in in my shed at about 12 metres which is not far but one pellet hole. Very accurate. The barrels in them are Lothar Walther barrels I think. Very neat rifle.
