Serial # 007 is on its way to me from Melbourne today (or to my club armourer). This rifle has come from Sweden via Germany and has been coming more or less since May. It has come in a shipment to Hermanns.
It is a 500 cc reservoir single load version similar to but not the same as, the FX 500 Royale .25 repeater.
The main difference is that it is direct load to the barrel with the "bolt" also acting as the air transfer port (like a Steyr or Olympic 10 m rifle). So the pellet doesn't have to cross a transfer port in the chamber.
It also has a regulator set to just over 50 fpe. ... If I can believe the reports on Serial # 006 (no reason not to) it will give around 90 shots at 50 fpe on a single fill and with an extreme velocity spread of 15 fps. ... It has one of the smooth twist barrels which is a smooth bore to the last few cm near the muzzle where it has shallow rifling that is impressed in from the outside of the barrel with what I might describe as an industrial collet die. ...
This .25 cal Elite rifle is coming to me with a spare .22 cal barrel. The spare barrel can be changed into the Elite in 5 minutes and it can also be installed into my RWS Excalibre for me to compare accuracy with the excellent LW barrel in that rifle which has shot so many MOA 100 yd 5 shot groups.
Well it will be dispatched registered mail from Victoria today and just MAY reach my armourer for registration by the end of the week.
Will it equal the mighty .25 BSA Hornet on the target? .... Well come January I shall be at the farm for a couple of weeks and in spare time will get some answers. ... 90 shots at 50 fpe on a fill ... that's a lot of bunnies! I doubt there are that many rabbits in the district today ......... Best regards, Yrrah

That's great news Harry. I bet you can't wait to put it through it's paces .
My Rapid is at the dealers but my pta hasn't been posted yet. Looks like we will both have a good new year.

Good one David. The only one I have ever shot was Mark's (Hornetboy) a month ago. Rapid MK 1 and it is deadly accurate.daisy wrote:That's great news Harry. I bet you can't wait to put it through it's paces .

Very very nice Harry, the barrel sounds like the same as their new Independant, 25 cal PCP with built in pump.
I look forward to your results.

Them dar smooth twist barrels have been getting some mighty big right ups O/S so I'll be interested to hear how it goes Harry. If they are as good as the reports say they are then we all might have to change the way we think. Everyone thought Roy Weatherby was mad when he first started palying with some of his radical ideas and look where that company is today!
Keep us posted mate, I think your gonna have some interesting results out of that gun, I personally have some pretty high expectations of them. My .177 royale 400 shoots like stink (1 hole groups at 50m pretty consistantly) so I hope that sort of result reflects in your new gun!!!!!!!!!

Same style. Fredrik told me that my barrel was in the 16 th iteration of his R & D. Since it was packed off he has moved to the 18 th, so it is still a work in progress. When I have finished testing there may be some more changesstinkitup wrote:Very very nice Harry, the barrel sounds like the same as their new Independant, 25 cal PCP with built in pump.

The myths and legends may take another hit. I'm glad I never made any wild statements or guesses about the new version of the old paradox rifling. This isn't new it is just a different way of achieving the result. .................. Well not long now.
I was originally to get an Independence with the Elite loading variation. When the Independence comes forth in .30 calibre and 70+ fpe I might line up again.
Kind regards, Harry.

Re: FX Royale Elite .25 cal
Thanks Chris. I may even pull the barrel from the Excalibre and put it into this Elite one day to see what it will do when manually fed single loaded. The Excalibre barrel fits into a brass sleeve that has the transfer port as I understand it. That is why I can fit the ST .22 barrel Fredrik has sent to the Excalibre. No reason the reverse swap won't work to give a head to head on the new rifle.uncakikki wrote:Them dar smooth twist barrels have been getting some mighty big right ups O/S so I'll be interested to hear how it goes Harry. But all those shots on a fill with such tight velocity spread is a big attraction in itself. ..... Later he may send me a .177 barrel, then I will need to get some of the new heavy 13+ gr .177 JSB Monster pellets ...... Best regards, Harry.

With that number of shots and those energy figures I reckon we should all get one! The idea of being able to switch barrels so easily is appealing toYrrah wrote:Thanks Chris.
