Hall Rimfire.

A mate and fellow competitor has taken delivery of a custom rimfire that a bloke most of us know built
,it is a Hall RBLP,Jewel trigger.............................blah,blah,blah.............................................well its not mine after all
.
These are the pic's before the stock was finished and painted white with a white pearl coat
,went and shot it this arvo with him(remember to take camera next time) and no flags,bit of breeze,mixing ammo,...................................not having much idea and welllllllllllllllll............................................

The in letting into the stock is superb.

The inletting is spot on,the high spots around the tang area have been shaped as the owner wanted to finish the stock himself and yes it is a thing of beauty................................................................for the $$$$$ thats involved with these little bangers they would want to be
,and more importantly it appears to be a keeper.
Also the port has been chamfered at the rear and opened up over the top,all looks factory,good job done well

Hi Chris, those Hall actions are nice and the best we can get in Australia in my opinion. I understand it is not yours but I just want to know if it is going to beat mine this year, so I have a few questions.
1: What make of barrel is on it and what Dia is the barrel.
2: Who fitted the barrel.
3: Will it be running a barrel tunner.
4: Has the firing pin been fixed to improve ignition.
And Lastly can we know the owner so I can keep an eye out for them at the major comps this year, Brisbane x 2 and Melbourne.

Lilja,.95 straight,24" long.

Thamks for the info Chris, with any luck this is a 200m fly rifle(I do not shoot fly), sounds like it should be on the money. The only thing holding it back might be the lilja, the last couple I have fitted have not been exactly what I would like.

Nope your sheet out of luck with that one,was built with most BR events in mind.

Hmmmm I thought along the same lines but the customer support that most smiths in Aust give with the Lilja's is pretty good and at the moment after shooting mixed lots of ammo with a strange/new rifle and then looking at the targets I wont be surprised if the barrel stays where it is
..................................................unless I can convince him other wise

All the Lilja's I have fitted will shoot no doubt but have not been as good in the wind.
Did a little test, not exactly perfect test but ran my lilja against my broughton within 20min in the same wind and found a extra 2-5mm wind drift with the lilja. Mine is a tight bore and current theories have the shelien ratchet and the broughton canted lands better in the wind.

is that an april fools post? certainly sounds like one to me
if not, it would more likely be due to the difference in velocity from each barrel and/or slight diff in wind strength or direction not barrel brand

No sorry not a April fools post, just a theory comming out of the States mainly (Bill Calfee), but my tests confirm it for me. As to why, it is to do with the amount the little lead projectile is distorted. The Lilja is very tight and the projectile is squashed (elongated). Also the canted lands on the broughton and the shelien mean they cut through the wind better. No scientific proof on either of these two claims, but if you look at the scores being shot in the states at the moment and what they are shot with is enough for me to order 1.

Chris, is the Hall owned by somebody that bought a old 22 of mine, only to onsell it and have it come 5th at nationals 2 weeks ago, with a novice shooter.
I heard he was getting a hall.

lovely gun i like it, but what i dont understand is why put the ejector port on the LHS
unless the shooter is left handed, which then posses another question why is the bolt handle
on the RHS?
