Comments on why you chose this particular Cartridge: needed somthing bigger than the .22lr to bring down foxes and cats.
Comments on why you chose this particular Brand combo: was just sitting there in the dealers shelf and caught my eye. the left had stock fit perfectly. was love at first sight. (you guys know the feeling).
Performance on paper (accuracy): will let you know when it happens. hopefully tonight or tomorrow
Performance in the field: i am expecting good things i have a pack of powerpoints and a pack of hornady v-max.
Fieldman's are a very nice rifle and yours looks in very good condition, I have just recently acquired a lh thumbhole 22 mag myself.
If I can offer some advice, be careful with the magazine as they are pretty rare. The one I acquired was missing its mag and the dealer was having difficulty finding one, luckily I just happened to have one, which meant we could come to a suitable arrangement to put the pair together.
yeh i went to the lgs in the off chance that he might have a spare mag and he did
but yeh he told me they are as rare as rocking horse shite.
how is yours shooting?
Let me know if you happen to come across another magazine as i wouldnt mind a spare. Thus far it has shot about 35mm groups at 100 with power points. The fieldman certainly seems to a well designed and made rifle, and from what little I have been able to ascertain they are certainly a part of the australian firearms manufacturing history which has now gone.
I have a Fieldman 22 magnum, I have had it since I was 17 and it was my first brand new rifle. I used it a lot when it was new then put it in the safe for a few years as I thought the ammo was too dear and used a 22 LR. When the new types of 22 magnum ammo came out I started using it again and it loved it.
The 50 grain Federals are the most accurate thing I have seen in any 22 magnum, might be worth a try in yours.
