anyone had a rifle built or know of someone that has had one built on this action?
I had some credit with Shane on the ppc i cancelled and at the last comp in Canberra the wife said "if I come next time can I shoot too"
Cant afford the NF scope or the custom action right now but found a savage target action for $715 and snapped it up and TOZ just posted a weaver T36 to Shane.
Interested to hear others experiences with this action.

unfortunately I haven't heard of too many rifles in AU built of the savage target action but seems to be quite popular in the US for obvious reasons. I think there are a few rifles on the 6mm site and I would be interested in how your finished product Trev as they seem to be a good action.

yep, read good stuff on US sites but never seen one here. It will have a custom stock and barrel and I'm sure anything Shane builds will shoot better than the wife (or me) can make it!

The Savage LRPV, 12 F/TR and 12 F Class use the savage target action.

Mate here built a switch barrel 22BR and 6BR on one and he shot two 59's (all x rings but one i think ) at 900m with the 6mm kreiger barrel.
Seems to be a pretty accurate rig...

Trevort,
There is a bloke up Stanthorpe way that has one in .308 and probably various other calibres now and when I asked him how it shot he told me that he set a 200mtr Hunter class target up and shot a 50.2 at 300mtr's,now my memory could be out on the .2 bit but was definately a 50,I also think that it had a non factory barrel and was set up sans the barrel nut.
Old mate is not a bullshitter and reckoned that the thing shot great,I can find out the exact details if you need.
Regards Chris.

just a heads up, when looking for this was told no one had them, NIOA, the new importer had none and had ordered none, wait was a guess to how long.
Price quoted, 1200 to 1400 from a number of dealers.
Just noiced RPG has some listed at $895 if anyone is after one. Maybe wait till Shane gives a verdict after working on mine

I've got one, but haven't screwed the barrel on yet, got all the bits, sharpshooter LRBR stock/ douglas barrel/ farrel base/ xtr rings, just need to bolt it all together.
I think Shehane do a tracker stock for the savage now, one of those obeche african stocks would make a pretty varminter.

G'day Trevor,
If its what I think it is, its the same action that Mal's Savage F class is built on.
They are a very nice action and seem very smooth, Mals rifle, chambered in 6.5 284 clover leafs them at 200. Pretty impressive for a factory rifle.
But rather then buy an action would it not be more viable to buy one that is complete rather then build something up? I am pretty certain that you can get a complete rifle for around the $2000 mark.
Regards
Sean

At least she won't blend in with the black tacticool mob.

Big jump in prices lately, i think closer to $2300, they were $1850 last year, i paid $750 for my action.

Geez Prizes have moved, I think a custom action could be got for the $1400 mark this time last year, one of those Savages for $2300 still sound like a good deal for how well they shoot! It seems alot of stuff has gone up by ALOT! anyway have to keep dreaming that the house will sell.
