Visited Clancy today Ho, Ho, Ho

Post by Knackers »

Went to Wagga to do some xmas shopping and then over to Narrandera to pick up my rifle from Shane's.
I purchased Trevorts .224 call factory CZ varmint barrel which is a 1:9 twist and also his laminated stock to suite. Shane screwed the barrel in and bedded the action into the stock for me, and now I have it in my hands :D
I screwed the scope back on (6-18x40 VXII) stapled a target up put the bi-pod on and grabbed the only ammo I had on hand. A hand full of 50g V-max hand loads, a box of Winney 45g HP value pack, and a box of Winney CXP1 55g PSP.
I have a box of 75g A-max,s and grabbed a box of 69g Sierra HPBT Match and some 2206H powder to get something happening out yonder.

As you can see by the target that the scope was pretty well straight in line with the POA just too high. I made some adjustments half way through and must say that I am pretty happy with what it has shown in the last 25 minutes of daylight using bullets that are really a bit light for the twist rate.
Can't wait for Xmas to be over so I can start loading up some of the heavier projectiles.

Thats a good looking rig there Knackers, There is a rifle the same as that but in 22-250 in the local, it hard to not let the card out.

Should be good to see what it does with some handloads in it, Good luck.

Looks snazzy Knackers. 223 is a great cal especially with the one in nine twist barrel.

You made any decisions as to what you are going to keep / swap?

Merry Christmas

Is this the rifle you were asking us not long ago should you keep or trade for a dirty 30 or crazy words to that effect??

I hav e just got my 6.5x55 from the Nerrandera marvel and so my 338 Federal has been pushed back in line of the first to grab when hunting bigger stuff

do you want to give the federal a run on the pigs and see how you like it

later

Thanks Ogre, I'm very tempted, but with my schedule in the coming months I doubt that I would get the chance to try it out for a long time. My mate with the 80,000 acres in the Western Riverina keeps telling me to come out as he has quite a few pigs getting around ATM.

What rifle is it?

Very nice package Knackers.
Is that a stock CZ varminter laminated stock, or an aftermarket?

viscousx5, your right, its a standard CZ laminated varmint model stock. So is the barrel, I wanted the bloke to just sell me the whole rifle but he wanted to keep the action to build some pissy 20 cal or somethin. :D So I had it all fitted to my 527 that I've had for years.

Gday Knackers, I think one of those in 204 Ruger might suit me! Do they come with the fluted barrel or did Shane do that?

Have fun mate.
