375 Ruger Latest addition to Safe

Post by MickGibbo »

Finally its here, everything is ready to go and as soon as my shoulder is right I will be running her in atthe next range day.

I have topped it with a Leupold VX-II 2-7 and Ruger Mounts.

I will be starting with 260gr Nosler BT Accubonds and want them doing about 2800-2900 fps.

I will make a 300gr load further down the track.

Here are some pictures.

If I ever get enthused about the idea of shooting scrub bulls or buff then I might get something similar . Very nice .

I thought the rear open sight on a great looking rifle like this one is supposed to be an express type sight- you know those flip up V's pre sighted in to 50, 100, 150.

Thats a really nice piece of timber- if it was me I'd be looking for a plastic bolt to use while in the scrub and keep the woodwork nice and shiny for when she's in the safe.

So can you tell me a little about the case??
its bigger in diameter than a standard magnum case isn't it

Do you have a case diagram you can post??

thanks
later

Latest issue of Guns Australia has a write up on the cartridge and the Ruger Hawkeye African & Alaskan Rifles. On the face of it, it would appear that the .375 ruger is about midway between the 375H&H and the 375weatherby mag. Plenty of gun for anything on this continent. :P
Aw yeah, Uncle Nick said its all good so it must be, :o :o
Jethro agin.

What about Black Bear because thats what its for then whatever I want to point at it, more than likely a lighter load samba gun or any of the bigger game. My 270 WSM will take all them but hey always good to have a back up.

Jethro thats spot on,

Case dimentions are here. The design allows for more powder giving it a slight advantage in ballistics over the 375 H&H in a short action.

Pat,

as you can see from the dimension diagram, the answer is yes and no,

No, it is no bigger than a standard magnum, but yes, because it is not belted it is effectively bigger if that makes sense.I am busting to get mine going, as it will have a 25 inch barrel which is considerably long than either of the Ruger factory rifles at 20 and 22 inches. The extra barrel will have a marked effect of velocity without the need for extra powder...... In Theory!!! If the powder charge gets any bigger, I'll just order threaded bullets and screw the ADI can on the back of them and feed them in!!!

We will see, just waiting on a replacement reamer to arrive from the manufacturer, then it's all go... 6 weeks leave and soooo many deer to shoot!!!!! :hunting:

Cheers,
The Kiwi.

MickGibbo,
Wherever you got the case dimensions from ... do they have a 300RCM (Ruger Compact Magnum)?
Cheers...
