Post by fenring »

Myself, I'm digging the Model 11 BTH.

But the pink Cub T would be a chi chi camp plinker. ;D

Yeah, i like the idea of one of those in right bolt, left port without the magazine.. I'd go one in 6br or 204 or perhaps even something big just for shits and giggles.

I like the marketing spin about the Model 25:
Savage announces a new action that will change the way the firearms industry talks about bolt-actions. Previously centerfire bolt actions have been measured in length: Long action, short action, super-short action, etc. The Savage Model 25 features a new slender, diameter-specific action built around the .223 bolthead dimension that is not only short, but also much smaller in diameter than a standard centerfire action.

The result is a compact, lightweight action that is no bulkier than it needs to be to chamber the diminutive 223 Rem. and 204 Ruger cartridges.
Sounds a lot like the CZ527 doesn't it?

your right on mevo. I like the look of a LRPV in 6br, and a custom switch barrel for a 20br.

Agree on the LRPV in 6mmBR. especially with Trevorts switch barrel to 20BR.
The Walnut stocked 17HMRs look sweet, too.

The model 25 looks like it may be a "rear locking lug" type action 'ala' rem 788. If thats the case then they've defeated the purpose of slimming down the action to suit 223 bolt head cartridges I feel.

just looked at savages web site. The LRPV in 204 had a 1in7 twist what option bullets would this give.

check that again. The heaviest available 20 cal bullet needs a 1 in 9. Sure you didnt see 223 twist rate?

Then pic up an Ex-full bore .30 cal barrel and make a 30BR- and away we go- what an absolute gem this thing could be.

A Model 12 Long Range Precision Single Shot Varminter in a 204 with something like a 6.5-20 Leaupold on top would be nice for lambing season!!!

yep, ogre 6BR, the Savages are starting to put the cat among the pigeons; just talking to aJR, and he's shaking his head in that way of his; reckons the new 6MM BR Norma will really stir the pot in a lot of shooting fields.
