Just wondering what you guys think is the most accurate out-of-the-box rifle you can buy for under $1500

you can get good and bad in any brand. My ruger Vt was a tackholer untouched, Drew's vssf is the same, Thomo's T3 varmint, my CZ 527 shoots better than I can etc etc.

I have never heard a report about an innaccurate savage (never owned one myself). I am sure there are poor examples of these, maybe people dont post them.

I had a chat with shane about the action as a possible base for a custom.

If I wanted the best chance of fine accuracy untouched I would by a varmint model Savage with accutrigger.

To steal someone elses sig line,"thats only my opinion and worth what you paid for it!"

I`ve got a T3 in .223, and love it to bits. The next rifle I get will more than likely be another T3, but I am also thinking about a Savage with its new accutrigger. Does the Savage have the same box mag as the T3 or does it have a floorplate arrangement?

savage has a box mag, no hinged floor plate. I'd go the savage, to be honest its a much of a muchness between the savage and the tikka. Both triggers are great, they both of good reputations for accuracy, comes down to what calibre you want and if you can get it in either rifle I reckon.

CZ or Tikka in my opinion they are both very accurate as standard.

I have 2 x Tikkas & 4 x CZs and love them all, but the Tikkas are a bit plastic compared to the CZs which may or may not bother you.

Like to see a comparo done between the Sako 85 Varmint stainless, tikka varmint, the steyr pro-Varmint and one or two others. SSAA will be doing a comparo between 4 or more 243s soon.

SSAA will only compare it if its imported by NIOA

the hook is dangling! :P

The .243 comparo will compromise of second handies or mid-range newbies that they will trick up themselves or something like that... cant quite remember off the top of my head :?

Thats not true Klicker! I'm sure that Raytrade sends at least one remington in for review to Aus shooter per year...

What I did hear though, is that the fellas that run Beretta australia are shotgun men and don't care if Tikkas/sakos aren't reveiwed as they seemingly sell themselves
