22x47 Lapua
Bit of a slow starter here but I recently picked up a Sako 75 Varmint laminated single shot in 308.
It is a Sako custom shop rifle with only a few hundred made It does come with the set trigger a Sako gun case and has been used and is no collector.
I grabbed a Cheetah 1-7 30" .224 barrel of Conrad a few weeks ago necked 50 x 6.5x47 lapua brass to 22 cal and ordered some 80 grain SMK tipped projectiles from the club.
Next sunday is "D" day for fitting up with the following weekend in the paddock for load work fingers crossed it works

Re: 22x47 Lapua
Yes mate job was done today but I did shoot the donor at 300m last weekend.
I was lucky enough to fit up a kahles 10-15x50 with the MOAK reticle for a trial.
Apparently the scope had been returned because of a supposed Yellow Tint
I think someone had been out daisy picking as the only thing I could find wrong was the sight picture was so incredibly clear and infact that there was a Bluish hue which was caused by a very slight smoke haze. Our Nightforce competition did not show this blue though.
I did make an offer on the Scope which I might add was light heartedly laughed off oh well
Still waiting for some Pills and a scope (220)so maybe not next weekend ):

I've never heard of Cheetah Barrels. I've been looking for a 22cal 10T to replace the 8T on my 22-250AI. They look alright. Look forward to seeing how your barrel goes.

Quickoz you can buy with confidence
3 shots to run in then killed some stuff the next day went over to the range for practice.Fired 10 shots each at 300-500 then 700m came home and I thought maybe should clean it.Used some sweets on a nylon bristle brush then 5 patches to squeaky clean.I am very impressed so far as well as my own I know 5 running them and all are very happy.

Re: 22x47 Lapua
Soo I got this smoke pole up and runnin
36 gr of 2206H behind Sierra 69gr MKTP gives 3650fps with no pressure
37.8 gr 0f 2208 gave 3750fps with the same pill splitting hairs for accuracy between them.
Killed a Field Mushroom at 462m (sorry Camel)The splatter effect was monumental
Killed a Rabbit at 620 something metres followed by one at 729 then missed a couple or more followed by a fluke at 785 lasered metres.
Pulled the bolt out removed the bipod and put the rifle away.
4 blokes witnessed it and my head is just starting to shrink
I think I like this combo

How much is ransom money? Mine were $160/box through the bearded guru at the VRA.Seddo wrote:After buying lapua x47 brass once I swore I’d never pay ransom money for it again.

G'day All,
FYI that bearded bloke hasn't worked at the VRA since November 2019.......but I'd still check their prices against the others.

Have you shot it enough to work out a drop table? I would be interested to know what the trajectory is like.

Re: 22x47 Lapua
Marcus I have not fired a shot since
I need to get a load worked up with the Berger 89.5 grainers
Then get a drop chart worked out.
There is a lot to like so far Macca
