My turn for a bargain...

Post by SW-Hunter »

Gday, havent had to anything to post about for awhile so just been lurking haha...
Been keen to get a 220 swift for a while and a mate got me onto this a M77.
Came with some Winchester 50gr soft points which shoot pretty well...better than the bloke behind it can anyway. The scopes an old redield 10x40. Suits the era of the gun which is cool but something more modern will come with time. Had to take it out last weekend to get it a kill. Only one we saw for the morning.
Thanks

Definitely not the cleanest rifle I've seen..few marks on the stock and some small spots of rust on the barrel...but she's a shooter...

That is a terrific pick up - officially green with envy  Like I said on the other post I have had a hankering for an old red pad M77 HB in 220 swift for many years, can’t explain why.

You must be from somewhere within an hour or so of where I live - I’m between Hamilton and Portland.

Yeah mate just the other side of warrnambool. I've seen you post and wandered if you were Branxholme way or just a coincidence.
Not sure if I'll get to keep it for ever. The fella who owned it passed away suddenly and his young bloke had to let a few guns go as he couldn't keep them all. Told him if he ever wants dads swift back give me a call.

Great pick up.
Swifts are always great shooters.
Check out power pro 2000 powder....no point running ethanol infused low octain fuel in a V12 engine!
Looks good to me. Enjoy

Ive always had a thing for the 220 swift and a swift was my first proper gun. I really should get another one and would hope to find one for a reasonable price as you did. I would likely load it with RE16 which will give good velocities and control copper fouling.

I've only ever used ADI powders so I'll have to look into the 2 others mentioned. Picked up some Nosler 55gr BTs' so they will get the first run when I get reloading on the go. (2 kids born and a new house that needs Reno's means im not even sure if my press moves these days).

Nice one,
I have a old Ruger 220 Swift in the back of my safe should get it out and have a play as I haven't done much with it since it was rebarreled.

You will have to bring it out to Cessnock sometime for me to drool over. My first serious rifles were Swifts but it is years since I have seen one.
