New Project For the Droughtogether
I recently bought a Sako 85 XS Varmint in 22free Blued Walnut of course.
Now there are a lot of people know my opinion on the 22free so before I get Tarred and feathered I will not see the rifle and handle the rifle until the work is done
I bought the rifle with a specific cartridge in mind.
A 22/204 or 22 Terminator my plan is to shoot the 53 grain Vmax at 3700 FPS or even a 40 grain Zmax at 4000 fps
It will be throated for the 53's at max magazine length to hopefully get max case capacity.
A Redding type "S" die was accuired some time ago as well as a Redding 223 Competition seater that will see the reamer treatment.
I just need to find a 204 Body die
Picked up a 100 Norma cases that have been expanded, trimmed, chamfered (using a Sinclair expander Mandrel that will give 2 thou neck tension) and the primer pockets have been cleaned up.I will be annealing them after the first firing.
Flmath has asked me to do a thread on stock finishing so I figure I will use this stock and give pics and explanations as I go.

I thought you were asking to organise a rain dance.
As for a 204 body die I may just have one of those. I will check tomorrow night.
Cheers

Love the sound of it but whats the advantage over the 222 mag? From memory the 204 was longer body with less taper and shorter neck?

Bimbo from memory the 22/204 has more case capacity than the 222 mag or 223AI
The 204 is basically an improved 222 mag
It might not set the world on fire but could be interesting
Cheers Macca bloody awesome

I'm loving this thread - nothing ceases to amaze me & I'm learning all the time. All the best with the new DroughtMaster AK , with the 53 grainers will you be just shooting for "tails".??

Bugger linky no worky
Old mate over in NZud has been playing with the 22/204 and calls it the 22 Terminator (as in Terminator Muscle Breaks) he is getting 3700 FPS with the 53 Vmax.
Mine gets chambered by Group Solutions this weekend.
Stock is finished and new to me scope on the way These were at the start and now And a new to me scope is on its way

Nice job Andrew!
Your stock is, WOW!
I am interested to see how the 22 Terminator goes.
