Went for a wee shot Saturday afternoon with Rosie and her mate
I sent them off down the creek with the Sportco 22’s while I had some paper time with the old 22 Hornet

100 yards
Emboldened by this effort I set out to poke some wholes in some critters got half a dozen at between 150 and 200yards
Missed a few out a bit further then wacked these 2 at 80 yards

Looking good mate, the old Hornet just works so well - especially for small properties!

Not bad for a inaccurate old thing shooting factory ammo, waiting to see how it goes with those 34gr FBHP a few of them around here love them in their hornets.

22 hornet, a classic small game cartridge, old and still kicking around...there is a reason for that. It does the job perfectly.
My modern hornet, 527 just does not shoot the 40-45 very well. I made some jacketed 46,47,48 and 49gn and the 48 is wonderful.
I have some 30gn round nose, 224" that I made up for my CBC break action if you want to try some lighter projectiles.

Thanks fellas not real keen on how the stock looks so might try something different
Sean that ancient old Cartridge is nearly 100 years old and I have some of those Noslers loaded up
Russell is going to give the trigger a stone up next week hopefully get rid of some of the creep
Bill can I take a rain check on those bullets might try them later on

Yeah , but maybe he's going to do the conversion to "K" so he won't get so many split necks & case separations. Patience good people.
