Ruger Precision Rimfire

I got around to testing the ruger rimfire with it's new lilja drop in (not so drop in) barrel. I must say I'm impressed. These shot groups were shot at 50m. The standard plus and midas plus should have been better, it was the 5th shot that opened up the groups.ImageImageImageImageImage

Here are the groups with the factory barrel. As you can see there is a big improvement but then there should he, the barrel costs more than the rifle.Image

That new barrel certainly seems to shoot very well there Seddo. I'm interested to know why you chose to put a custom barrel on the Ruger? Because you could?

TBH from what I've seen Ruger have shot themselves in the foot calling it the "Precision" rimfire because it never seems to shoot all that great.

Should have just called it the "Tactical" or something.

I've always wanted to try a drop in lilja, I picked up a cheap cz455 but sold it before I got a barrel for it. When I was talking to lilja they said they were working on a barrel for the RPR so I ordered on then and placed an order for one and ordered a rifle. The positives for the RPR is it came with a 30moa rail and it accepts 10/22 mags and I have a lot of then.

You need around 55moa from 50m to 300y and 110moa to get to 500y, that is where a 30moa base helps.

There was nothing precision about mine. The barrel nut was so tight and the threads were galled up, we needed to run a grinder into the nut to relieve the tension and then we have to press out the barrel. The condition of the threads was pretty average.
