For those that like speed and accuracy I had Matt at LRP solutions do a 6-284 short throated on a maddco 3 groove 14 twist barrel 25 inches long and for a change I put a brake on it as well , only tried 2 powders 09 and 08 could get 75 trainers to 4000 but not without pushing the envelope, the load I settled on for the moment was 75 hornadys with 51 grains of 08 for 3870 with a beautiful easy bolt lift and you can put the case back in the chamber any way you like with no sign of stickiness at all , it shot 4 different bullets 3 shot groups under the inch at 200 but the load settled on put 2/5shot groups into .480 and .720 at 200 , will try some 65 grain vmax s in the near future and some 70 b/tips , as usual matts work on the barrel and action is spot on now if we could just get a bit of dry ground to shoot on

have you ever played with a 6x47L?

The speed Missed was getting on 75vm isn't a whole lot slower than that.

Trev I did play with a 6 47 lap but 3650 was about sensible I found with a 75 grainer

There is nothing quite like pushing the envelope.

Then you calm down a little. Missed reckons he got 3700 from a mild load with a lot less powder. Which isn't a whole lot different from your calm down load

Bit like me and this 257 wby. seemed like a good idea at the time

Thanks Trev but I reckon it will be a bloody good thing in fact I ordered a 28 inch flutted barrel today , but when push comes to shove the 6/47 won't do what the 6/284 will do

then keep pushing the envelope

.257 Wobbly is still a great idea you just haven't embraced it properly Trev.

Yeah I think that's pretty good Dashooter, if I was going 257 weatherby it would be a 2506 ackley Trev

Good to hear you got one up and going. I am also getting Matt to make me up a 6x284 and would also like a brake on it. It should be a great calibre for long range fun.
4000 fps with a 75gn pill, awesome.
