Bits are coming together.
BAT SV action and Jewel trigger a matter of weeks away.
Lilja 1 in 9 30b palma profile 20 cal barrel a month or two away.
Just ordered a McMillan Hunter class br stock 40% moulded in blue, 35% red and 25% white.
I'm gonna sing the national anthem and salute every time I pull the trigger

Good question, I'm open to ideas.............. and then I'll do what the impulse drives me to
The cartridge is 20 dasher. I have 1000 55 gn bergers. I want this rifle to be capable of 500m fly or 1000yd br. The interwebs say the 55gn berger can do it.
The truth of the matter is I have just gained access to another property in Jerilderie that I dont have time to go to this year. I most likely will never compete BUT the hunter class stock fits a bipod and making a varminter to BR quality should give me a highly accurate rifle.
So I was thinking of an NF br 12-42 x56. It will be equipped to compete but the scope will let me spot distant rabbits too

Sounds great Trevort. I have that same stock and love it. Mine is mid blue and black, with an Anschutz rail in the fore-end, so I can use the Sinclair bipod adapter with a (short) bipod in varmint mode or run it on the bags with nothing in the way in target mode. Mine is a 6br on a single shot Pierce with a Rem Varmint profile Lilja. I am saving my pennies for a Nightforce Competition to replace the Weaver T36 on top.
Keep us informed as the build progresses...

There isnt a lot of adjustment in that scope. 40moa wont take you too far without a canted rail.

Total elevation on the Competition is 55moa and I have a 10moa rail. My load runs at 30moa @1000m from a 200m zero. Then there is 10moa in the FCR reticle. Provided it mounts up in the centre of its adjustment, it should be all good.

you could see 6.5mm bullet holes at 500m on 42 with a br nightforce, Unless there was mirage, you see no holes in the mirage.
20 cal holes will be bloody hard to see but then if I cant hit a bunny at 150m cos the scope wont dial down far enough.....
What would you suggest Seddo

its hard to have a scope that will do both well. The guys i've spoken to say that 8-32 is the min power for Fly. How do you think 8x will go on bunnies?

I spotlight on 12 with all my other scopes so as long as I can adjust from 1 inch high at 100 to on at at 500 (1000yd am I dreaming?)
