Took this out today, last time shot was with 105gr scenars at a warren 378m away, popping primers every shot with it's standard bolt and firing pin.

Step in Russell from group solutions in Canberra, bolt and firing pin fixed action out of stock and trigger cleaned out of primers.
With no idea where it was going to shoot a shot was taken with same 105gr load at a rabbit 220m away, with the impact a good 8 inches straight over the intended target it was decided to go straight to the 400m warren to try our luck.
With an untested load and light projectile in a fast twist barrel it was decided Andrew should show me his ability to switch to the unknown and still come out on top.
With the calmness of a stalking tiger he lines up the shot and drills the kitten rabbit rite through the centre and then informs me of the crap trigger he had to deal with.
The dodgy howa chambered in the useless 6x47Lap then proceeded to continue doing so until a judgement error in elevation was made and the shot went directly overhead.
The rifle shot well the rest of the afternoon with no misses due to windage only shooter error in trajectory of my untested load.
No more primers were popped and rabbits were exploded at identical ranges with 2 different primers igniting the same charge with the same holdover dodgy arse 6x47.

That was a bit of an eye opener Dave both the way the bolt was repaired and the way it shot.

Can you put up a pick of the before and after repair please as I am sure there are a few Howa owners that will want to get this repair done.

Russel at Group Solutions has told me it is a very common repair

As said i do not have a pic of the before firing pin but put my bolt next to my 223 bolt and here is a couple of pics.
Yes i am aware i did not bother to clean the bolts. I could also not be bothered to pull the firing pins out and take a pic of them.
You get the idea though.ImageImageImage

Yes that last pic does show it well Glennn.

He did not believe me when I said wind the scope down 3 MOA .

He wound it down 2 MOA and it was still 1 Moa high at 250m.

He just needs to replace the god awful (to me ) Hogue stock.

Oh and Trigger of course

It is a very flat shooting round.

Yeah Howa's are cheap guns, until you replace, everything!

Out of interest how much did the fix cost?
Got a rifle that is a primer piercer with an ugly boltface than need fixing.
