Left hand 22s, Anschutz 1416 vs CZ452

Here's one for the left handers.
A quick comparison of a couple of 22 rimfire rifles. The targets where at 50 paces across the paddock. I shot from the driver's side window off a big iron rest. Not real scientific, but close enough for some discussion. The shots where aimed at the white crosses on the target.
Ammo was Federal 525 bulk pack and CCI stingers.
The photo below is a combination of three targets First off the Anschutz 1416 target on the left. It's nice little rifle. Very smooth action and a really nice trigger. It came with open sights and a dovetail for mounting scopes. I've taken the front sight off and put a 4-12x40 scope on it. More a chin weld than a cheek weld.
You can see it does OK with the Federals, but it spreads the stingers all over the place. The stingers also hit quite a bit higher (70 to 80 mm). I've used the same aim point and the same bit of paper for both groups.
Next the CZ targets on the right. This rifle was bit rough from new, but it's smoothed up with use and lubrication. The trigger was gritty and creepy out of the box. I put a tiny amount of never seize on the bit where the trigger lever contacts the sear, and loosened off the trigger spring adjusting nut as far as it would go. Much nicer trigger now. It still has a lot of takeup and you can feel when it's about to go off, but it's a lot smoother now. Not as good as the Anschutz, but a hell of a lot better than new and good enough for my needs. The only downside is the bolt handle is bloody close to the scope.
The CZ also has a dovetail for scope mounting, but doesn't have open sights. It's got an old 3-9x40 that Camel gave away a few years back. With low Sportsmatch rings I've got a reasonable cheek weld.
Not quite as good as the Annie on the Federals. Where the CZ shines for me, is on the stingers. A nice group and only about 40 mm higher impact than the slower Federals.
