Hi guys, I pulled this post from Aussieferalhunters, some of you would already know Neale, and battered, and the ACP venture, here is something for all you 20 cal freaks, looks like it could turn your 20 cal into the new 9.3x62.

Well I finally got my Howa 204R.
Fitted it up with a Swarvo Z3 4-12x50 with a BT.



Loaded up with 28.5 grains of 2206H, BR-4 primer, 32 grain ACP with a col of 58mm for 4000 fps.(Have since gone to 28.7 grains )


It will shoot better than it is at present of around 3/4" for 3 shots at 100 yards when I get the replacement trigger fitted.
The triggers are dead set shit and on par with a Remmy Pump gun.  :crap:

I fitted a left handed Boyds thumb hole stock and bedded it myself with this stuff.








Shot a couple of goats and cant believe these things exit a goat side on.  :cigar:

I know they are a little fast projectile but wouldn't you want as much weight retention in a very tiny hunting projectile as you can get rather than break into pieces?

Keith I could only speculate, maybe being such a small projie the train of thought has been go for a 50-50 mix? Either way mate they seem to of done the job! It's another option for fellas with a 20 cal who want to maybe spotlight a pig or goat or something like that?

There priced at $30 for a 50 pack , not too bad for a specialty projy

Yeah that's it mate. Probably won't replace your standard pill, for me it could because I am not shooting all that often currently, but it's good to have a pill capable of doing that in the 20. It's a market in which I really think could go well in America to be honest, pretty much untapped for projectiles of this type!

As much as I'm enjoying the performance of ACPs in my 9.3, Camel seems to have zero issues nailing pigs, goats and whatever else with his 20/222 and whatever Z/Vmax he is running. And a hell of a lot cheaper.

Of the three goats I shot with the 39 bk, two had completely hollowed out skulls and one seemed to have some sort of disconnection issue with vertebrae in its neck. All malformation resulting in shockingly sudden death

A 40gr 224 would be nice.

They def get the job done.

Goats are not exactly armour plated, shot quite a few when I had my 223 using vmax projectiles. Have shot the odd one with the catkiller and 39gn BK's as well. I think they transfer all their energy into the animal and the fragments rip it to shreds. Really only an issue if you hit larger bones but with the above rifles thy were all head shots so I can't really comment on that.

I understand that Trav. But still we are talking a bullet with not much mass and as it sheds weight it loses energy and you do want it to penetrate on bigger animals. That being said I've seen fallow shot with a 204 and there was no bullet left but the entire front end of the animal was useless due to all the bruising.

Don't disagree Keith just I don't think of a goat as a bigger animal. Most goats are not much bigger than a large dog (some billies might be the exception, but not by much). I have never heard of too many people worried about shooting a dog with a 223. After all, the round (and frangible bullets) were originally developed for a specific type of primate which has heavier bone structure than goats and is usually at least 50kgs heavier.

I am not suggesting that these are suitable everyday projectiles and cartridges for cattle, donkeys or bigger but I do think the 223 and 204 with frangible pills are fine for goats

You are probably right mate! I guess at the end of the day if you get a clean kill then it's debate over

I agree with the good Dr - have been out shooting goats many a time with people with an assortment of cartridges including .270, 7mm mag .308, .30-06 & 8mm mag.

At the end of the day, i feel they all have too much energy for the thin skin & light body of a goat and pass straight through most of the time. Good old .223 and .243 with frangile projectiles are about ideal for the job I think. Look fwd to testing out my .204 on them too when it's finally done!
