I've just bought one of these-

It's going to replace this-

Pick it up later in the week. After PTA is done and then swap scope over and see what I can do with it at some paper. It came with a set of dies and various projectiles- BlitzKings, Grenades and some Noslers in various weights, 26gr to 40gr.
Fun times ahead.

I have the Ruger Predator in .204 and it works fine with factory 39g BK.

had a Ruger VT in 204, was a top rifle. I think you were wise to replace the other one, there is a big dent in the scope. Bet you didnt get good groups

A mate of mine has the VT and it is a genuine tackholer using his hand loaded 40 grain V-Max. Took him out on the foxes earlier this year and he shot two foxes under the light that were 357 yards out according to the rangefinder. I was suitably impressed. My sporter weight M77 could not shoot groups as tight but was/is still a nice rifle ( it will be for sale shortly). The Predator has a heavier semi-varmint weight barrel. I would have like a VT but they are long, heavy and somewhat cumbersome and are not a 'carry' rifle. Just too heavy, which is one of the reasons they shoot like stink. The Predator should be a nice blend of sporter and varmint weight.
Once I get the newie set up I'll post some pics......and hopefully a reasonable grouping.

No, it's in a paddock at a mates place south east of Sale in Victoria. I call a few foxes out of that scrub in the background every year. There is a intermittently running creek along the bottom of the hill and holds quite a few. I usually pull them to the edge with a FoxPro Firestorm electronic caller and pop them with the 204. We spotlight it regularly too.

Here's the newie in a some comparison shots with the original which is for sale (if anyone is interested, PM me).

And with the scope fitted--

Ran a few shots through it to get hitting somewhere close at a hundred-

That was with factory 32 grain V-Max. Won't play any more until I get some handloads done for load development.
It's good enough to ping foxes under the light.

Not as nice as my original, but maybe it's just because it feels different. The rifle was bought used from a guy in WA and he'd had the trigger lightened. Checked it with a trigger pull scale and it broke at 2.4lb. It's got a small amount of creep, which I'd prefer not to have but it's well usable. Might work on it a bit down the track.
