Hey Guys,
I put a deposit down on a new Marlin XT17VLB today and am wondering what magnification scopes you run on your hummers?
It will be used as an all-round spotlighting and walk around bunny busting gun.
Cheers
BB

3-9x40 does the job. I dont bother with any fancy reticles. Its pretty flat to 150m if sighted dead on at 100. Plain crosshair works. Put crosshair on furry bit and touch the go button.

I had a few scope on my hmr. bought it with a 6 power, went to 3-9 then up graded to 4-12 which suited it perfectly.

Got a 4-12X40 Bushnell Trophy on mine. Happy with that range - I spend most of the time on 6x when walking around and wind it up when I need to.
I'd never use 3x on a .17HMR so IMO a 3-9 isn't that good a choice - half the power range will be unused.

Hahahaha yeah I know, Mick! I do a fair few trips back to QLD and NSW so it won't go unused....
Plus, I have seen Fenrings posts..... apparently it's a perfect calibre for pigs
We'll have to catch up for a beer in February mate!
Cheers BB

Bloody oath mate, will be good to have another hunting parner too, we will have to try and see how that little hummer goes on a pig.

If your looking for a cheap 3-9 of reasonable quality you should be able to get good deals on the sightron SI at present, should be well under $200.

Sounds like a plan mate!
I had a look at a 4-16x40 Barska today, looked ok for the money. Probably no match for a sightron though.

Mate I have one on my .222.
Pretty good for the price, however i have noticed a little blurring on the edges when at 16x
I use it at 14x and good to go.

It is on a Tikka T3 lite Stainless, 5 shots under an inch any day with handloads.
Never had to rezero apart from when changing loads with it so far.
I really cant fault the "internals" click adjustment is accurate too.

minox ZA5 1.5-8x32 is a nice little scope. Mine sits on a 223 CZ carbine but it would suit a rimfire nicely.
My 17hmr has a leupold VX1 3-9x50.
