I imagine that would have been quite a good rifle for an young lad to start out with.

Would have been nice and light to carry, too.

It's a Harrington and Richardson "handy rifle" it's got interchangeable barrels upto 45/70, currently running a 1x zoom red dot ( any things better then peep sights)

There's not all that much I know about the rifle other then dad bought it for me when I was young and never really used it as we had a 22 nd another 22mag.

It has a few marks on it but surely is in great nick considering it was second hand when we bought it, I'd like to find out more about it as I've never seen another like it.

As for distance this gun ain't for you haha

And only really put the bi pods on there for abit extra wait as for this things way to light lol
Oh it's a break open too

Good little rifles those ones mate, thanks for the info, I had never seen a full wood stocked one before. These have been chambered for some fairly wild pussy cats as well from what Ive read.

yes correct mate :) they do come in big game calibers etc too, they still make the handy rifle but there synthetic. it was on the market a while back but didn't want to see it go, can be for my daughter when she gets older :)

My thoughts mate are to always keep the first one, especially if it was given to you young. I still have my lithgow model 12. You couldn't part me from it and it still brings back early memories being shown how to shoot by my dad.

If your keen you might want to give some thought to the 17 WSM  Yep old Johno said that  There are a good few blokes in the US converting H&R to 17 WSM. I would'nt be sure if its this model, but check rimfire central there will be info on there

I can buy barrels for it to go straight on it upto 45/70, but I do have a 222 so I don't know if there's much of an advantave
