The good ol tripple deuce!

Since the 222Rem's pretty popular on almost every continent I thought you guys might like to see one I put togeather for vermin shooting last year. Unfortunatly I didn't get it finished untill our local Ground Squirrels and Rock Chucks had gone underground for the winter, but I did get some load work done so she's ready to roll at the first sign of a little head popping up above ground this spring.

The rifle started as a plain vanilla 700SPS sporter chambered in 223.
After shooting it in factory form to see if the barrel was worth saving (it was) I sold off the stock, X-poo trigger, and bottom metal, and then dropped the barreled action off at my smith's. He squared the action, lapped the lugs and raceways, surface ground the recoil lug, cut a nice hunter crown, setback the barrel back, and rechambered it to 222.
I installed a nice old school remmy trigger, pillar bedded in one of Boyds Classic ADL , stocks, and topped it off with a 4.5-14 VXIII in Warn med. rings.

Soooo, for about the same cost as a factory Remchester I have something different than the crowd, built to my tastes and needs, and chambered in one of my favorite old chamberings.
Oh yea,,,, shoots pretty good too. :)

Very nice :) I too love the .222 Rem. great little cartridge. I have always used 50gr Vmax pills in mine for hunting, but now Im playing with the 40gr Vmax/Zmax and AR2219 (H322) with great results. I have a two .222's both are Sako A1's one a sporter the other a HB varmint. :D I have yet to blood either of them :( some day soon though :D

Here the varmint

Nice looking rifle 8) that really bucks the trend Field Grade as the thing to do with a 222 over is to rechamber to 223.

I have 1 triple at the moment with another arriving in a week or two  I hope the new arrival shoots as well as yours and Mulga`s.If not it will become "something else"

Long Live the Triple

Yikes!!!
Ream a 222 out to 223,,,, never!

Bet your new one shoots good. It's pretty hard to find a tripple deuce that doesn't.

Very nice mate.

Hey missed, that repeats what I was saying on your topic, but with pics.
If I may bang on a little more, the case that should have been the 204 ruger
