Hey guys, has anyone had any experience with the WSM calibres? In particular, the 270WSM?

Is the general 250fps extra worth the added cost of brass and stuff?

Cheers

BB. :hunting:

I have a 270 wsm in a Sako 85 hunter stainless. Shooting the Berger 130s and 2209 it is very accurate at just under 3200 fps. Could go quicker but accuracy drops off.

Great calibre, if you don't have any standard 270 stuff then I would say go for it in a 270 wsm, if however you do have the 270 stuff then its probably not worth it.

Though I probably would still go the 270 wsm as I am a sucker for new stuff

I have a 300WSM or two.

Are they worth it ?

Not sure, I really don't think I push them hard enough to see any difference.

The one think I do notice is they are a PITA to load on the run as the ammo is so short
if you are used to longer ammo (308 or 30.06) you tend to push down on the shoulder.

Never did ask ya either, how did ya go with those gas checks for the big .45. :hunting:
And If I aint said it already good to have ya back on deck too mate

I have a 300 wsm, mate has a 300 mag, no noticeable difference in the field or on the bench. I love mine. FLS of brass is needed each time in my rifle but since its for big stuff and the opportunity to use it is limited, I still have the original brass bought with the rifle 5 or 6 years ago!

130gn NBTs (thanks Missed for the tip) are awesome on goats and shoot fast and flat!
