Zastava 6.5x55

Post by Richta »

Just got a call from HPGS saying the Zastava is ready to go! I'll do a write up when it arrives in a week or so (hopefully). Now for the painful wait that will ensue.

well my old 6.5x55 is the leased acurate one i have heard of . it shoot's around 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 but on saying that weather it be 85 - 140 gr reloads or rem & highland factory stuff it all shoots the same sized groups . it's nice & light 3.6 kgs without recoil pad or sling ( empty ) & 2-7 vx1 scope . i can't fault really it kills great & the first round always finds it's mark . i'm sure a good smith could get it shooting better , it might need a recrown & new chamber cut & a good bedding job on the peires black stock . i know there not the best stock in the world but they were the lightest i could find so i left it on there . the reason theres no recoil pad the oridginal one rotted & turned to jelly so i took it off & shouldered it & the scope lined up better then ever so i left it that way . besides it's mild recoil don't bother me at all . a 6.5x55 in a new rifle i imagine would shoot superb .
although on paper they seem quite mild in the field they do it all . start slow finish fast is something i read recently , the barrel's should last a long time with those medium velocity's .
