Perhaps something like this....
....7mm Fatso. This cartridge is based on a 338 Lapua magnum necked down to 7mm and shortened to the same body length as a Winchester Short Magnum. This creates the ultimate Short Magnum giving 7mm STW ballistics out of a lightweight short actioned rifle....

Interesting cartridge.
Sounds like a lot of case forming work?

Nooooo! trevort, your not allowed to steal my idea

the grendal is based on the ppc but the shoulder is further forward and slightly shorter neck that's up to 6.5mm.

this site stirs more interest i think.

you been looking at the rebel gunworks adds. Magazine fed, 20 grendel, fast twist, 1 in 8 55gn VLD. reckon that case would hold similar capacity to a 20 br.

oooh dear.

second job for me anyone, too many gun ideas to be supported by one

What did you start this for Plowboy, ooohhhh I've got a big time itch now. I'll have to put some ointment on it unless I can think of a reason to sell one of my current crop, selling guns, bad plan!

There was an article in an Australian magazine last year where the author made the cases from 22/250 brass as the Creedmoor cases were not available yet.

Why? Just get the boltface enlarged to handle the bigger rim.

cos i don't want to.

might want it back as a 223 sized bolt later on and it would be cool.

have seen 6mm br brass turned down to fit a ppc bolt face so why ppc to 223.

tell me about it trev, i need 3 jobs to keep this up.

the incoming 17 fireball i've incidentally aquired has made my tikka lsa55 in 17 remington seem even more useless, nasty little barrel fouler that it is.

sooo, i started to think. yeah expensive to do that but what to do with that tikka cos lord knows i won't sell it. what if i turn it into a 223?? well i have a 222, a 204 and already have a 223 pump gun. nah not 223, what about a 222 magnum fast twist?? hmm not gaining too much there either. then i was looking at the ppc one night in bed and brain wave the grendel popped to mind. so poses another question.... 20 cal for heavy bullets like those 55's or 22 cal for 75 vmax's and 80gr smk's.

$$$$ i need a new scope first and a mending kit to fix this farking great whole in my wallet.

nayone know a good hypnotherapist?

I reckon those cz 527 carbine 7.62x39 are screaming out to be customised into a PPc or now a Grendel based case!

For your Tikka, a bloke on the 204um has necked the 204 case to 224 and ackley improved the shoulder and is pushing the 80gn amax at 3100 fps, like a 222 rem magnum AI. Just a thought

Reckon the .224AR looked OK but I am unsure about how light you could go with bullets. Shooting heavy pills would be good for goats and such but would want some flat shooting lighter pills for bunnies and red dogs.

they are the figures i'm expecting from a 22 grendel. hmmm anyone know the H2O capacity of any of these cases?

trevort, i like the look of the 22 grendel, think they call it the 22AR, but i have seen 222 remington magnum available in shooters mag from time to time.

hmmmm causes one to further ponder.

243-06 sounds like a winner! getting around 3500fts with 85gn pills. That would be a bloody good universal rifle

I'm building my Grendel on a Mini Mauser action.

I have dies arriving next week from the US. http://www.lockstock.com has 25% off all Redding and Forster products this month.

Cases are on order through the local club.

Just gotta find me a barrel.
