Re: Ruger VT's
I've got one in 22ppc...its the most accurate factory rifle I've owned...had it bedded and a trigger job done on it about 6 months after I bought it...the bedding job made no difference but the trigger has no longer got 2 stages and breaks at around 8 ounces...the only time it shot groups anywhere near 1" was when I was testing 40gn BTs at 4000fps...of all the ones I've seen and shot against the only ones that didn't shoot were caused by driver error or using crap reloads with cheap projectiles.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the rings but I think you'd be struggling to find a 22 that they'd fit on. Rings aren't universal young felladangaff wrote:I wouldn't be complaining even the rings were crap, better than nothing i see it as, put them on a cheap .22 or something.

Ruger have done just that! Thanks to the Obama Gun Industry stimulus package ... they're that many orders in arrears its not funny. Going to be interesting to see what happens when the panic buying/stock-piling on guns and components stops.
Cheers...

Not to mention because of the staggered mounts and semi circvle notch things they wont go on anything but a ruger i'd imagine.kjd wrote:There is absolutely nothing wrong with the rings but I think you'd be struggling to find a 22 that they'd fit on. Re: Ruger VT's
Ruger 77 Rings will fit a Ruger 77 and one of their large frame revolver models....nothing else.
Ruger No. 1 rings will fit the Ruger 77/22 and probably the Ruger 96/22 (and derivative) rifles. They also fit one of the large frame revolvers.
Two sets of Ruger 77 rings can be made to fit a No. 1 by taking the same height rings from both sets.
The Obama bubble is slowing in the US. Demand on ammunition is declining but still high, they are starting to wonder what will happen when everyone works out that they have enought ammunition and components to last 10 years. Then the ammunition makers will have a problem.

Re: Ruger VT's
Its not just ammunition ... its rifles too. Tried sourcing a Ruger No1 lately? They stopped production to concentrate on other equipment. Some commercial AR-platform manufacturers are 8 months in back-log.Dr G wrote:Bet it dosent mean chaep ammo for usadamjp wrote:The Obama bubble is slowing in the US. Either way, we'll pay through the nose no matter what we want.

She's not a bad jigger for a rifle that was only ever meant to shoot offhand at up too 500 metres on a Silhouette range!!Dr G wrote:G'Day Steve17MachIV wrote:OK everyone I have talked to has been happy with the accuracy of their VT's. So is there anyone here that has owned one that hasn't shot well. I am after varminting accuracy not the next world benchrest record.

I bought a semi customised Ruger VT off of some bloke who occasionally turns up here at AV. The bloody thing is a compleate dissapointment let me tell you . It only puts five shots consistently into about .9 of an inch at 100yards with factory ammo. I mean .9 jeez, based on all the advertising hype around many factory rifles this is barely adequete
It is a great rifle mate I am looking forwards to developing its potential with some handloads. The bloke who sold it to me reckons he was getting just on or over moa with it but having put a few rounds through it with cheap arsed winchester softpoints i reckon his load development was off or he is a shit shot
Dr G
Nothing at all wrong with any VT that I have owned and I LOVE the two stage trigger - but I was raised on Lee Enfields.

Rugers work for me....
Re: Ruger VT's
i had a look at vt .223 about a month ago but didn't like the action,it was very sloppy and gritty, but they can shoot and pretty are good valve for the $
Re: Ruger VT's
Wouldnt say they are sloppy. A bit stiff brand new yes, but after a few hundred rounds they loosen up nicely. My CZ 452 was the same, now its smooth as the proverbial
