Keith has said it's OK to put a few profiles up of customers guns that have been restocked (Most are Tikka T3's)
so I'll drop a few photos up over the next week as I think some of them are pretty cool.

I did the stock finish and all machining and building done by PVM ( Pro-Cal ). Shoots 1/4 MOA with 22Mag 40gr pills, but started to load 46gr Win HP yet to test.

It's a great rifle to shoot, very consistent results and consistantly shoots anywhere from .3" to .6" or less @ 100m average around .6" and have quite a few .5" - .6" groups @ 200m

It has been built manly for fox and rabbit sniping and should fill that role perfectly

Some fine looking rigs on here
This is my 223 ackley built by a very good gunbuilder here in the uk
It consists of a blueprinted remi action, custom bolt,singleshot follower ,kreiger 1 in 12 24" barrel,reflex T4 moderator,Mcmillan A5 stock,on top is a nightforce 12 -42x56 scope
The loads i run through it are 50gr nosler b,t ,26gr H4895 powder,lapaua brass ,remington primers,giving an a,v of 3289 fps
It can shoot half m.o.a at 100yds if i am shooting on form
This rifle is used for daytime varmints furthest kill 476yds on a rabbit
It is also used for alot for lamping foxs
Hoping to get a 243 custom rifle shortly so i can reach out a bit further on the daytime stuff

Nice shooter my friend, 476yds on a rabbit, you've got to be happy with that sort of performance! well done.

I haven't as yet put mine to the test on fur, but that will be happening in about 3wks time when I'll be out after foxes with a good friend of mine!! Can't wait, I'm sure if I do my bit and the foxes are about I will have some good success.

My current toy ... 'Yellow Peril' which will become my walking varminter and spotlighting rig.


Stevens 200 originally in 223Rem ... fitted with a $150 Adams and Bennett F34 profile 6mm C/M barrel and chambered to 6x45 by Jim Kent of Buffalo Gunsmithing. Scope is a VariXII 3-9x in Leupold mounts. Stock was painted a yellow, but will be tiger striped later for fun.

Barrel was broken in carefully using the 'shoot the crap out of it method'. Rifle has no bedding other than the factory pillars in the plastic stock. Trigger has been lightened a tad by me but is still about 3lb.

Load development consisted of taking a guess at a less than maximum load using AR2206H and just seeing what would happen. Projectiles were 58gr V-Max, 55gr DogTown projectiles (look to be Nosler SHOTS), a mystery 67gr target projectile and the Nosler 55gr Ballistic Tips. On review ... the mystery target pills are seconds and ranged from 64gr to 69gr ... perhaps explaining the flyers in the top right hand group. The 55gr Ballistic Tips which show the greatest potential ... well I stuffed up and pulled them from the load box incorrectly so its actually a composite group of 2 shots with 27gr and 2 shots with 28gr AR2208. 4 shot group due to a ceasefire being called. Rest are 5 shot groups.



To review:
Factory or Custom Rifle: Stevens 200 'bitza'.
Brand of Action/Stock/Barrel: Stevens 200 / factory Stevens plastic / Adams and Bennett 6mm F34 blank.
Gun smithing work done and by who: Jim Kent of Buffalo Gunsmithing ... would have been a 2 day turnaround except he blues every fortnight so I had to wait.
Cal: 6x45 (aka 6mm-223Rem) ... I'm very surprised at how much fun it is to shoot and is a dead easy wildcat to play with.
Barrel length: 22" ... instructions were to cut the blank to match the factory 223Rem barrel as close as possible.
Scope used: Leupold VariXII 3-9x

Comments on why you chose this particular Cartridge: Dead simple wildcat, availability of target 67gr projectiles and more 223Rem brass than I know what to do with.
Comments on why you chose this particular Brand combo: Stevens (Savage) as I like to experiment with wildcats and can swap barrels at home. Next will most likely be a 30cal on the 22/250 case on my 308 action. The Savage rifle is like a Meccano set with the ability to swap and change parts with relative ease and no formal gunsmith training. To be added to this rifle is a Boyd's stock and oversized bolt handle. The scope suits a walkabout varminter and cost me $200 ... but came attached to a H&R Handi-Rifle.
Performance on paper (accuracy): See above ... more load development to go.
Performance in the field: Been out once on the bunnies ... did fine.
Reloading info for this particular rifle IE: Brass, Powder, Projectiles load info etc. See blurb above. But the 6x45 is dead easy to build and run ... my brass is once fired cheapies that I annealed using the candle method then necked up. 6mm pills in sub-70gr are easy to find and plentiful and dont require a fast twist like a 223Rem looking to run similar projectile weights. Option to use an 80-100gr pill for medium game is also available, but this rifle was built to take foxes coming to the whistle and as a lightweight walking vaminter. I'm half tempted to get another barrel but using a heavier contour (#5) and then cut to 20". I originally wanted to build a pseudo- Savage Predator but the F34 contour is a bit lighter than I expected ... so the next will have to be a F54 contour.

Hey Con,

Looks like it will have some potential once you settle on a load you like, It's a shame you mixed up the loads! but at least it shoots fairly straight, not like some rifles I've seen lately down the range (look like shotgun patterns!) probably more the hooter than rifle though.

Keep posting the next round of results - would be interesting to see how its going, what distance were the targets shot at? I assume 100m.

Mine are filled with supermarket plastic bags ... ultra light weight and cheap! Mates laughed at them, but on a recent spotlighting trip they were quicker and easier to use than the real sandbags.

I've got a couple of homemade sandbags, but to be honnest I might have to have a look at another type of medium as they are quite heavy to carry around, wondering if kitty litter might be alright, I also like the idea of the rice! what about bean bag filling, wheat or barley?

All good until it gets wet, then it smells, swells and splits. I like the idea of old plastic bags though.
