If it's hitting what you aim it at it's not too long.

Just some friendly baiting of our local musketeer.

I'm hoping to get 140grainers as close as I can to 3,000fps, letting as much of the powder/gas do its work as possible can only help.

I'm a fan of short barrels too, my ppc is 20", and I would consider going shorter. Different tools for different jobs.

I think it looks great may be no chop swinging around in the ute but up on top

My AI is a heavy palma finished a shy under 30 hanging of the savage target action. I think the stock makes yours look longer.

You should easy make 3000 or close to it anything around the 3000 mark seems to be accurate. I ran 50.5 kissing the lands and had no pressure issues. Alliant powders I think it is are doing an RL26 and some of the guys in the states I think using standard case have seen 3250 or there abouts with 140's.

Need to load some up and try for score at another fclass day.

he wont even need to pull trigger, just poke holes in the target with the barrel
Maybe he's planning to use it as a modern black powder rifle...He's probably working on a carbon fibre ram rod for it now.

It could be tricky getting the powder down past the brake...
Very easily done with a long funnel :P

That reminds me I have to invest in one of them too !

All good mate. My 26 inch 6/250 barrel looks way to long in the short for end hs stock it sits in.

We like to stir.

Tried a few today, mainly breaking the barrel in and looking for pressure rather than load development as such. Had it up to 49g, no signs of pressure yet and just over 2,900fps. 3k may be do-able. I need to get on to snipers hide and read about RL26, sounds good, if I could guarantee a semi-reliable supply I may give it a go.

Tried a few 3 shot groups. All 3 times 2 rounds were on a top of each other and the third was 1/2 to 1 inch away. I think I'll take some more material out of the stock around the barrel and go back and try some 5 shot groups.
