yeah the carbine is a great handy little rifle....I'm using the sako bulk ammo at the moment and was getting 3 shot groups a little under 0.75'' with 5 shot groups opening up to about or just over 1''. The barrel does get pretty warm in the summer months. With my handloads using sierra roo 55gr, lapua cases and 2206h I get pretty consistent 0.5'' groups at 100yards.Knackers wrote:A little off topic, but how does your CZ Carbine shoot Louie?
It's the perfect rifle for stalking/hunting/foxwhistling....it handles very well, points very well and I love the Mini-Mauser action. The standard trigger has a little creep but the set trigger breaks like glass. I use it a fair bit with the open sights for hunting in the bush where shots aren't much further than 100 yards. I would love to take it hunting goats but alas no goats around my way. With the open sights I can regularly hit old bricks from a rested position. Overall it's a pretty simple rifle...all metal and wood...mini-Mauser action....all in a compact package which shoots accurately.

The high bolt handle root is annoying as you cannot mount the scope low and the low comb on the stock is great for open sights but when combined with the high scope mounts it's not ideal....but that is being picky. I'm very happy with it.
The CZ 527 rifles all seem to be great quality at a reasonable price. I had a look at a 527 American in 17 hornet recently....very nice bit of kit.
