Re: when you feel like you made a mistake
Re your last questions mate, just grab a stoutly built cup and core lead tipped hunting projectile, something like a 55gn Sierra super roo, or maybe a 60 gner. They would fill the bill rather nicely I think, and they are cheap. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Bloody oath, one of the best pills going around in the 55gn range, I wouldn't bother with anything else now after using these, they smash everything very well and do a heap of damage.BP72 wrote:The sierra super roo will do the job nicely Jacko , don't won't about it being cheap ! They are only cheap because they come in bulk packs of 1000 not because they aren't well designed, those things are bloody accurate in my 22.250 - even with me shooting em I've managed quite a few .3" groups with em and a few groups out to 200m that would fit into a 5 or 10c piece.
I've got around 3000 of em sitting on the shelf for when I need em. (picked me up for $110 a box a few years back)
If you don't want to go a 1000 Jacko get the 100 pk Game King 55's as they are the same projectile just in a smaller pack size.

Use them in my CZ 223 and NO1 22/250.
PM me your address and I'll send you a few to try.
Like what you have done with the CZ bottom metal.

I'll be boring and agree with everyone else. The Super Roos are bloody good.
The Speer 55gn softpoints haven't failed me either.
I don't get one hole groups, but they both kill NSW pigs dead.

Likewise with the Speers Jacko. If you want some to try, give me a yell.B4408 wrote: PM me your address and I'll send you a few to try.

Ill ditto that as well mate, got a thousand or so 55gn Hornady 55gn sp if you want to try some. I know it is a fashion to use plastic tips these days, but generally for normal hunting/shooting you cant beat the value and effects of a good old plain Jane soft point.
Re: when you feel like you made a mistake
Sorry for the late reply fellas, been pulling a pump out of the river + trying to get wheat samples done.
I thought the 55 sp might of been a good place to start, I run a 10tw barrel, ideally, it would be a 12 tw, but maddco don't do one, only a 14 twist, which is a bit slow I thought, in hindsight though, it may of been more appropriate.
As far as the sp's go, does anyone think there is a standout?

Re: when you feel like you made a mistake
I would just slightly put the Sierra 55 gn in front of the others mentioned, they are a bit more solidly constructed, but it would only be a poofteenth in it. Hit em in the right spot and they will go down every time.

Re: when you feel like you made a mistake
I used the old 50grn Nosler shots for years they were great and accurate enough to use at club target shoots out to 500 metres in my old 223.
