Mark, this thread takes me back when I got my first job as a 15 year old. Bloke sent me to the hardware store to ask for a long weight ( wait ) took awhile for the pennies to drop.

Its a bit like waiting here to hear how the 20/222 shoots

Just to hi jack your thread, put another few through this CZ 527 in 7.62x39, a four shot group one hole just over 1/2" 18 1/2" barrel carbine should not shoot this good :D

Let me know if you need help a jog to the old memory, been that long since you shot anything over 22 rf you might have trouble

I think a severe case of Man flu has slowed him down Johno either that or he is a bit worried that after shooting the 20 cal everything else will just be so so.

G'day you old shit stirring bugger, my first job they told me to go to the hardware and get a skirting board ladder

Nothing to report so far mate, its all ready to go, Im all ready to go, a mate of mine has given the go ahead to make a permanent range on his place, now Ive just got to find the time and weather to go and shoot some holes in paper.
We've had around 3 inches of rain over the weekend, so that's making access a bit of a task, then bloody work just keeps piling up, have only shot for one night in the last three weeks, mainly due to this bloody flu that keeps handing on and on, spent the last two days skinning the bloody things, and now have to fill the chiller again, we are two pallets of rabbits behind in orders. Don't worry too much mate, Ill let you know first up how it goes.
Glad the 7,62x39 is working out well for you, opps sorry, Colleen, but where was the fifth shot, everyone knows that the only real test of accuracy is to shoot 5 shot groups, , or cant you stand the recoil and muzzle blast of the mighty rig.

Thanks for the vote of confidence mate, I think there has just about been enough chatter from the peanut gallery.

Never heard the skirting board ladder one - nice.

When I first joined the Artillery I was sent down to the tech store for a long weight. I returned with a crowbar.
Then in the field I was asked to go and get a can of muzzle blast from the next gun over. I came back with a can of dye mark.
Then I was asked if I wanted to take the No.8 position (catcher). I said, "No thanks - thats a job for a senior bloke like you Bomb" (Bombadier = Artillery Corporal).

It was when we did a clearing patrol of the new gun position that the penny dropped that whilst new to them, was not new to life in the green.

Back on topic - we are all looking forward to gratuitous accuracy shots, velocity quotes and dismembered bunnies.

Johno, you could be right about the myxo, about the only thing that I haven't done in the last three weeks is crap myself, although it has been close a couple of times,

Adam, there are plenty of those old sayings around, they get recycled a fair few times, some of them are real crackers, like the one about telling the new recruits on the ships when I was in the navy, to go to the galley and get some milk for the Seacat, this was actually a small surface to surface manually guided missile system, of course the cooks were in on the joke, lots of blokes got caught.
Ill do the best I can with photos and stuff, don't have a crono so will just be the best guestimation.

While typing this reply to you blokes, the buyer just rang and informed me that he has just had another order come in, that takes us up to 6 pallets of rabbits behind, there are 8 pair to each carton and 54 cartons to each pallet (864 rabbits) so a total of 5184 rabbits, and of course they want them all yesterday. I guess that means I wont have much forum time in the next month. 8)

Just edited some figures, maths never was my strong suit.

Would be handy sometimes, but really need someone dumb enough to want to learn how to skin the bastards, down one man in the skinning shed today, but we still managed to skin 210 pair in 6 hours, only got 160 pair to do tomorrow then have to start filling the chiller again either sunday night or Monday night, off to Canberra Friday for the markets Saturday morning. Still need another 4 pallets.

Where do you manage to find 5184 rabbits to shoot? I thought we were doing well when we got 20 hares on about 12 acres but 5000 rabbits i would not be able to find them!

Ive got access to approx. 1.5 million acres, theres not rabbits over all the country but enough for me to make a good living on them. Went out and got 100 pair in around 7 hours last night, I try and average 100 everynight that I shoot, sometimes more and sometimes less. Im starting to have to cover a lot more ground each night now they have thinned down a bit from the myxo. They will come back. :D
