The Kangaroo motif was a Commonwealth of Australia insignia.

The Commonwealth bought a a large number of Martini actions (and rifles) from the UK. Mostly of BSA origin but I have been told that some were Enfield. These had amongst other markings the Kangaroo insignia.

The Sporting Arms Company of Adelaide (Sportco) bought up a most of these actions when the Commonwealth sold them as surplus. (Wouldn't we just love it if they did that now?).

During their fit-outs and refurbishments Sportco removed almost all of the Commonwealth markings except the Kangaroo.

So if you have an "aussie" martini, with the Kangaroo and few other markings it is probably a Sportco (via BSA).

Sportco also had distinctive markings on their target barrels, but I don't know if their sporting arms had the same, even so, being as a barrel is a consumable those marking would not be there if it had been rebarreled.
