I think I would like to try a 7mm wild cat made with necked down .338 Lapua Magnum brass. Either that or the new .338 Norma Magnum necked down to 7mm.

I'm in the process of building a 6.5 Grendel.

I also was thinking of such a cartridge (though finances at the moment prevent me from doing more than dreaming). The take off 204 Ruger barrel I have laying around is what made me think of uses for it.

Ideally I would keep it at the lower pressure levels and have a quieter round than the 204 Ruger but something superior to the 17 HMR. Am really looking for a cartridge between the .22 LR and the .204 Ruger.

Another one I would like to try is a sub-sonic .50 cal, a 750 grain projectile at 900 fps still has a lot of energy and a bullet that large would not even need to expand to cause a large wound channel.

Did some searching around and found that they rounds don't really work too well as the cases do not hold higher pressures too well compared to 220 russian cases. So looks like 20PPC but really do like the sound of either 17 or 20 hornet. Would be very cheap bunny gun.

I assume this has been done b4 a 6.5/250 savage i couldnt find any load data on it. (anyone tried it)

Yes, it is a good round and is pretty much what the yanks sell as a 6.5 Creedmoor.

no, Hornady developed the case from scratch but it is very close from the pictures I've seen to 250 capacity but less taper

might have been done but i've been pondering necking a 6.5 grendel to 20 or 22 cal and having, if i can be done, the rim on the case heads rebated to fit a 223 bolt face.
