How long have you waited for a gun.???

Post by native hunter »

G"Day All
Well I have just about come to my wits end waiting for an air rifle to arrive, I ordered it in august and it has still not arrived.
It is a weihrauch HW97K in .177cal, I have had my permit extended to end of march and I dont know what to do if it does not arrive in time.
I have really set my mind on this rifle and I have put in the long yards now so I will have to wait.
To really rub salt into the wound I tracked a secondhand one down for a mate and it is a tack driver, now Im bustin at the seams.
I was quoted a price back when I ordered it and it is $250 cheaper than they are retailing for now and my dealer sais he will stick with the quote so I have to wait.!!!!
So how long have you waited for a gun.???
Regards
Damien Webb.

native hunter, the longest I have ever waited was for the PTA to arrive which has been up to 12 weeks.

The wait for your Weihrauch HW97K will be worth it. I have a HW97K in 4.5mm (.177) and love it. The Beeman FTS pellets are extremely accurate out to 50m and deadly on Indian Mynahs. It also takes bunnies cleanly at 25m.

Native Hunter - If the gun does not come in before your permit expires, make sure you extend again. If the permit expires it will take you another 8-12 weeks for them to approve it again.

I waited nearly half a year for a rifle to come in from overseas.

Now it turns out I will wait nearly a year for another - the importer had told me it was coming as a stock item. However it seems that they only placed an order for the combination I wanted from the maker when I placed an order at a shop - more than 6 months after they told me that it was coming. So it will now be up to 3 months for it to arrive - so I have not yet applied for the Permit to Purchase as it would probably expire before the gun arrives!

I ordered a Win Mod 70 Classic F/Weight 300WSM as soon as they were released onto the market in the US. It took over 12 months for the first shipment to arrive in Aus.

Also have three rifles I bought before I came to India. That was 8 months ago and they are still in storage with the dealer waiting to be picked up when I get the PTA's done.

I have had to wait over 12 months for a bloke to fit a 223 barrel to my old Omark F class rifle. In the end me and the old man demanded the rifle back , of coure it was still not bedded or completly finished so we done the bedding ourselves. another bloke told me he had a gun at the same place for over 18 months.
And another example, I ordered a CZ varmint, put in the for the permit waited 3 months no good so had the permit extended for the next 3 months, next friday no less the extention ends and it wont be extended again, and the CZ wasnt going to land in OZ until april, so I ordered a anshultz with a heavy rifle. The dealer was on the phone to the distributer while I was there and he said it will be here in the next few weeks that was over a month ago and a week on the permit to go makes me a very unhappy little hunter :x
I may only be 21 but I seem to spend more time waiting for my rifles then shooting the bloody things. needless to say the next rifle I buy will be off the books, no more permits for this little black duck :D
