Paz,
Will feed fine. When I was talking with Keith Hills about rebuilding a Rem700 with 0.308" bolt face using the heavy 6mm barrel ... he could not absolutely guarantee feed as a 6mmBR. Immediate suggestion was a 6x47Lapua with no turn neck so you can load factory brass and just shoot.
Cheers...

The angles in a 22/250 magazine etc is more condcive to feeding a 6BR than the longer lengths of a 243 or 308 magazine

in my Tikka's I can feed the 6 BR and 30 BR's from the longer 308 magazines but sometimes they tip fwd in the magazine

the Tikka 22/250 magazines have a small block in the back of them and to my eye there seems a slight difference in the angles of the feed lips

it's seems only slight and may or maynot be there or not- but feeding the 6BR and 30 BR's from the 22/250 magazines is more consistant than the longer magazines

I have tried feeding the 6BR and 30BR from the 223 size magazine and it works but feeding the brass into the magazines is a very tight fit and requires a fair bit of pressure on the projectile to force it in the magazine

Seeing as you are considering re-barreling a 22/250 maybe the 6BR might be a consideration??
just something to consider
less brass prep than making a 6/6.5x47 but less performance

I'm just putting it out there from my experience with the BR case and converting a 22/250 into a 30 BR and a .243 into a 6BR but using the 22/205 magazine instead

later

Ogre, the only prep in making 6x47l brass is to run it thru the fl die. Thats it. Now since most accuracy buffs will FL size a batch of new brass before it is used then there really is no stage of 'making' the brass in addition to the process you would normally do. It couldnt get any easier.

ok didn't know that- about the FLS brass before using brass the first time- I dont do that--
ok so it's really no brass prep for the 6/6.5x47 then
go the bigger case then - more grunt is almost always a good thing

long range BR, 6.5x55, 260 rem 6.5x284, yep argue the horsepower with 142gn pills over the 6.5x47l with say 123.

But its a spotlighting rifle and occasional bench gun. I'd rather a 6mm spotlighting rifle personally!

Hey Paz, if you want a 6XC just go do it! Dies are readily available from Redding in both the S series and the regular series. WTF is a 6x47 going to do that a 6XC wont do? The cases are almost the same if you check out the dim's. The difference between small and large flash holes may be of benefit for a bench gun but in your situation I don't see that it matters. You can form 6XC from Lapua 243 if you want.

PS did not get to big bore shoot as I was actually working out of town :(
My latest toy involves 444 cases and 357 projies in 14" barrel
May catch you at next years shoot

Paz, saw a 6.5x47 on the range today, accurate as hell it was with lapua 123gr scenars. I have no doubt it would make a wicked 6mm version too... food for thought.

case forming from 243, well if you posted that a day or two ago I would have been saying stay clear as my case forming experiments have been woeful.

But had another go yesterday and turned out 100 perfect JAB 20s (easy) and formed some Lapua 223 brass down to 17 mach 4. Three different dies. Only killed 2 by setting the trim die too short and the hack saw didn't leave a long enough neck.

Go for it Paz, I'd like to see a 6xc on here and hear about your case forming experience.

Mate not to boast or anything, but i seem to have a pretty good run forming cases, i have taken aver 300 x 300rum cases from .308 out to .458 and only lost about 4 or 5 when forming for my AccRel (due to split necks). Done about 100 for my 303-35, but that's real simple to form.

I love playing with stuff like that, if i could, now days i would go wildcat only, love the challenge :P .
