hmmmm, i wonder what your hinting at....
Yeah not sure what he's hinting at? Anyway theres two powders here that will crack 4000fps with 55 gn pills from a 24 inch tube. I used 2206H but I'm pretty sure if I can get enough 2208 into the sucker theres more speed to be had with it.

What is the most accurate 6mm cartridge(yes I know its hair splitting but take a stab)?
Answer: "George Gardner of GA Precision recently won the long-range Shumway Cup segment of the 2006 Snipers' Hide Cup shooting a straight .243 Win. In so doing, George bested Terry Cross (.260 Rem) and David Tubb (6XC), so you can see the .243 is a top performer at long distances. In fact, in terms of Wind Drift, a .243 running 115s at 3150 fps beats both the .260 Rem (2850 fps) and the 6.5-284 (2950 fps) running 142 MatchKings."

Absolutely nothing wrong with the .243
Probably one of the best cartridges for all round australian game hunting. There are better of course for specific needs, but in terms of ammo availibility, recoil (great round for the missus or even the kids to shoot), projectile choice, accuracy and flattness of trajectory you can't go past the good old .243
A very practical cartridge and one that will always have a place in my gun safe.

And yes they do make you a bit like "bloody Volvo drivers"

Not hinting at anything, am asking a question. Sometimes that ADI data bothers me. Can't compare .243Win/.240Wby with 55 gr bullets, but comparing 60 grainers raises a few questions in my mind.

.243 Win
60 Bench Mark 2 24" 38.5 3587 - 41.2 3713 -
60 AR2206 24" 38.0 3550 - 41.5 3715 -
60 AR2206H 24" 38.0 3521 - 42.0 3812 -
60 AR2208 24" 40.0 3671 - 42.7 3816

.240Wby Mag
60 AR2206H 24" - - - 47.0 3521 -
60 AR2213SC 24" - - - 57.0 3488

According to that the .243Win will push an identical bullet close to 300fps faster than the .240WbyMag using 5gr less powder. What really puzzles me is that, although 60gr is light for calibre, 2213SC shows as a lower velocity than 2206H - would have though the slow powder would be better than that.

Yeah "HiWall" I know what you're saying about ADI load data, it really is a big pile of BS and can only be considered a rough guide. With all the calibres you see in my signature none show a velocity equal to any of the figures published by ADI and in fact all show at least 150 to 300fps less with their listed powder charges. And that includes 12g slug loads too.
But yes they have certainly lost the way with the 240 weatherby. Hard to see how a case with 12% larger capacity can't beat or even equal the smaller case! But as shown below it seems even ammoguide have some strange info for the 240W too.

I fail to see what the issue is with this calibre. Obviously it should go like a stung cat.
And if loaded correctly "should even remove the finger prints"
I'm sure your 240 is running a lot better than the lame info ADI is feeding us.
I can see the appeal of these smaller calibres but even so where I am able (allowed) to I will still always use my 30 magnums for my varmint shooting expeditions.
